Merry Ornament Card
The holiday season is here, and what better way to celebrate than with handmade cards and gifts? If you’re new to card making, don’t worry—this post is for you! Today, I’m sharing how I took the November Filled with Joy Paper Pumpkin kit and reimagined it into something truly unique.
This adorable kit included fabric stockings and tags that are perfect for gifting. While many crafters use the kit as intended, I wanted to think outside the box and create something fresh.
I created these stockings per the kits instructions. They are adorable and will fit many trinkets, candy and gift cards.
Inspiration Behind the Project
I know that many of my subscribers are card makers, so I wanted to create something they could use for their holiday cards while still staying true to the kit’s festive spirit.
That’s when the idea hit me: why not transform those adorable stockings into handmade cards?
Breaking Down the Process
For this project, I started by cutting apart one of the stockings and pairing it with the Merry Tags & More Die Set. This die set is amazing—it was designed to coordinate with not just the Filled with Joy kit but also the October and December Paper Pumpkin kits. Honestly, though, it’s so versatile you’ll find yourself reaching for it again and again.
Here’s a quick overview of what I did:
- Die-Cutting Magic: I cut a label and the word “Merry” using the dies, turning scraps of the fabric into eye-catching elements.
- Custom Coloring: To make the project pop, I colored the fabric with Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends Markers. (Tip: This is such an easy way to customize your projects!)
- Adding Texture: To give the card a little extra holiday magic, I splattered Whisper White Craft Ink over the fabric. It’s a simple technique that adds depth and dimension.
