Special Delivery Paper Pumpkin Alternates – 2 Elegant Handmade Cards
There is something so satisfying about stretching a kit and creating even more with what you already have. Today I’m sharing two handmade card tutorials that I designed using leftover pieces from the January Special Delivery Paper Pumpkin kit. If you love getting more mileage out of your crafting supplies, you are going to enjoy these ideas!
Both cards are simple and elegant, yet each has its own personality. One features a fun fold (a Z Fold card), and the other is a classic layout with a beautiful floral focal point. Even better, these designs show how easy it is to repurpose Paper Pumpkin kit pieces and elevate them with just a few extra Stampin’ Up! products.
Why I Love Repurposing Paper Pumpkin Kits
Paper Pumpkin kits are designed to be complete, coordinated crafting experiences. However, I always find myself with extra pieces, envelopes, or die cuts that inspire new ideas. Instead of letting them sit in a drawer, I love turning them into alternate cards.
The January Special Delivery Paper Pumpkin kit was incredibly popular — in fact, the refill kits are already sold out! That tells you how much crafters loved it. The soft florals, coordinating labels, and delicate details made it perfect for creating timeless cards.
Repurposing leftovers not only stretches your supplies, but it also sparks creativity. Sometimes the “extra” pieces turn into my favorite projects.
Card #1 – Elegant Z Fold Card with Added Color
The first card in this set is a Z Fold card, which adds a little interactive surprise when opened. While it may look fancy, it’s actually very beginner-friendly. The fold creates dimension and interest without complicated steps.
For this design, I took a floral die cut from the kit and enhanced it with Stampin’ Blends markers. Adding color to the flowers made them pop beautifully against the soft Pool Party background. It’s amazing how a little blending can completely transform a pre-printed element.
To finish it off, I heat embossed the sentiment in gold. Heat embossing always adds that extra touch of elegance and shine. The words were stamped in Versamark and embossed with gold powder, then layered with Dimensionals for depth. A few Pearls of Beauty embellishments completed the look perfectly.
Card #2 – Simple Layout with a Bold Floral Statement
The second card is a clean and simple design, but the blue flowers truly steal the show. For the background, I repurposed a printed envelope from the kit. Yes — envelopes! They often have beautiful patterns that make stunning designer paper layers.
Because of that soft patterned background, the vibrant blue flowers really stand out. The sentiment was once again heat embossed in gold, which ties the two cards together as a coordinating set.
This card uses a Soft Sea Foam card base, a trimmed printed envelope layer, and embellishments from the kit. The result is polished, cohesive, and surprisingly simple to recreate.
A Quick Summary of How These Cards Come Together
Both cards use leftover kit pieces combined with a few coordinating Stampin’ Up! basics like cardstock, Stampin’ Seal adhesive, Stampin’ Dimensionals, and embossing powder.
In summary:
- Stamp and heat emboss the sentiment in gold.
- Add color with Stampin’ Blends where desired.
- Layer die cuts and kit elements with Dimensionals.
- Finish with embellishments for a little sparkle.
