GLASS MAT STUDIO TIPS & TRICKS

Glass Mat Studio Tips and Tricks:

  • Enhance Coloring with Stampin Blends Alcohol Markers:

    • Apply alcohol markers on a Glass Mat for extended blending time, especially useful if you struggle with color blending. The slower evaporation of alcohol inks allows for a more leisurely blending process.
  • Utilize Grid Lines for Precision:

    • Take advantage of grid lines on the Glass Mat for aligning images and precise measurements in your crafting projects.
  • Quick and Safe Heat Embossing:

    • Speed up the heat embossing process by doing it on a Glass Mat. This not only accelerates the embossing but also protects your workspace from heat damage without warping or cracking.
  • Glass-Friendly Embossing Paste Techniques:

    • Explore various Embossing Paste techniques directly on the Glass Mat for creative and clean results.
  • Exacto Knife Precision on Glass:

    • Use an Exacto Knife for fussy cutting on Glass without leaving any marks on the surface.
  • Watercoloring Innovations:

    • Experiment with watercoloring on Glass by adding ink to the Silicone Mat or directly onto the glass for unique artistic effects.
  • Additional Techniques:

    • Try spritzing, ink pad, and marker direct techniques, as well as Stampin’ Brayer & Blending Brush Techniques for diverse crafting options.
  • Decorative Mats with Multiple Mediums:

    • Create decorative mats by combining ink, embossing paste, and/or Blending Brushes directly on the Glass Mat.
  • Magnetize for Added Benefits:

    • Magnetize the Glass Mat using a Magnet Board, such as Impresa Magnetic Board, for hands-free crafting.
    • Secure paper and masks easily with Washi Tape or bar magnets on the magnetized Glass Mat.
    • Prevent die sliding by using the magnetized surface.
    • Use a Metal Ruler for effortless cutting with an Exacto Knife on the magnetized Glass Mat.
  • Easy Maintenance:

    • Clean the Glass Mat with water or rubbing alcohol to prevent staining.

WHERE TO GET METAL BOARD & MAGNETS

I got the metal board, tool mat and magnets on Amazon. Here are the links:

Magnetic Metal Board

17.5″ x 12″ Metal Display Board that magnets will stick to. Fits under the Glass Mat. See full description on Amazon.

Bar Magnets

Pack of 2 strong Bar Magnets. I use these together with the Metal Board.

Ares Magnet Mat

  1. This is the first time for me so excited I have watch you for years
I rejoined because of you a Tami I thimk your very talented and knowledgeable it’s a pleasure to watch you
    Thank you

    • Tami White says

Maria, welcome back! I am so happy that you have enjoyed my projects and that I’ve inspired you. That means the world to me.

  2. woody wilson says

    Tami,
I tried to download the pdf from the #166 and it kept saying it was the circle wreath file. Beautiful z-fold. ✨️

    • Thank you and my apologies. It was correct if you clicked on the photo, but it was incorrect when you clicked on the button. I thought I’d fixed it earlier, but it didn’t work the first time. It should be correct now. Sorry about that.

      • Button still didn’t work, I will try clicking on the photo. Beautiful card! I make simpler cards, but this one is tempting me to get more elaborate. Thanks.

        • I’m so sorry it isn’t working for you. I’ve tested it again and it is working. It’s possible there is a setting on your device blocking pop ups. Hopefully the photo works for you.

  3. Tami,
Was just over on the Paper pumpkin fan club Facebook page, and so many people ask for your tutorials, have you thought of taking a picture of the words, “You can find the tutorial and PDF on my blog” and then under that your logo. This way you don’t have to repeat yourself a hundred times and you can reuse the image every month. I watch you all the time on YouTube so I know you have the tutorials and PDF files. Thank you for all your creativity.

    • Thanks so much for your thoughtful suggestion! I completely agree, it would be super convenient to have a visual prompt for directing folks to the tutorials. Being able to link would solve the issue too. However, on the Paper Pumpkin fan club group, they have a policy against advertising or sharing links, so unfortunately, I can’t implement that idea. I totally get the policy, as I also maintain a no-link policy on my FB page.

I’m glad to hear that you enjoy the tutorials and creativity! If you have any other suggestions or if there’s anything else you’d like to see, feel free to let me know. Thanks again for your support!

  4. Janet M Meredith says

    I love the roses!

  5. Michele Trow says

    Hi Tami
I tried to click on the pics for gallery 2 but the only ones that work are the first two. When I click on the remaining photos nothing happens. Can you help with this?

    • The 2nd Gallery links to tutorials. When you click the image it should open up a separate page with that photos project page and tutorial. It’s possible the page may be opening and your device isn’t defaulting to the new page. Or it’s possible you have a setting blocking the pop up. You can try checking your open browser windows, checking your settings, or trying a different device/brower as that’s about as much tech as I know lol.
