Pop Up Blocks Fun Fold Card Tutorial – Sailboat Card
Ahoy, crafty friends! I’m setting sail on a brand-new Pop Up Blocks Fun Fold Card series—and I’m so excited to kick it off with this nautical sailboat card. This fold is a total WOW, but don’t worry—it’s surprisingly easy to make, even if you’re brand new to card making.
Whether you’re creating cards for birthdays, Father’s Day, or just because, this fun fold will add the perfect interactive twist to your handmade greetings. In this post, I’ll walk you through my first card in the series featuring a sailboat theme, along with a full tutorial, supply list, and video class.
About the Card
For this card, I used the Stampin’ Up! Maritime Moments Kit from the Kits Collection and repurposed the die cuts to create a 3D card that pops open to reveal layered nautical elements. You’ll see a bold sailboat, an anchor, and abstract die cuts that remind me of ocean waves—perfect for any sea-loving friend or family member. Here are the cards the kit instructions make.

I used a few key Stampin’ Up! products to bring this card together:

Twisted in Time Stamp & Die Bundle – This intricate tree die is stunning. It reminds me of the Tree of Life from Disney’s Animal Kingdom (which might be top of mind since I just got back from the Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip!).

Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper – These vibrant, artsy paper scraps are perfect for the sunburst design. You could use any DSP scraps you have on hand for a similar effect.

Saying Something Ephemera Pack – I used the pre-cut “for you” sentiment but customized it! I colored it black using Stampin’ Blends to match the card and layered it over a second uncolored die cut for a subtle shadow look.
I added the die-cut greeting “To a Great Guy” from the kit, but the design is easily adaptable. Just swap the sentiment to fit birthdays, thank-yous, or even retirement celebrations!
