Vintage Typewriter Accordion Z Fold Card Tutorial
If you’re a fan of vintage flair and love getting creative with fun folds, you’re going to adore this project! Today I’m sharing a handmade card design that combines the charm of a classic typewriter with the interactive surprise of an Accordion Z Fold. It’s a sweet and stylish card that can be used for so many occasions—from birthdays and thank yous to anniversaries, congratulations, sympathy, and everything in between.
Why You’ll Love This Card
This Accordion Z Fold card is packed with vintage personality. The front features a typewriter with a sheet of “paper” coming out that says “XOXO” and a sweet little heart. The background showcases a subtle newspaper-style pattern and touches of gold foil for that perfect pop of shimmer. Best of all, the fold itself creates a layered, dimensional look without being bulky—and yes, it folds flat and fits in a standard envelope! (Just a heads-up: if you’re mailing it, you may want to add an extra stamp.)
How I Made It
For this project, I repurposed pieces from the Farmhouse Florals Paper Pumpkin kit—specifically the stamps and the adorable typewriter die cuts. I paired those with elegant paper from the Nature’s Sweetness Specialty Designer Series Paper, which has a soft, neutral color palette and refined prints that work beautifully for this theme.
To give the card some extra shine, I added Gold Foil accents using the Metallic Textures Rub-Ons. If you haven’t tried these yet, beware: they’re addictive! They glide on so easily and add a luxe finish with no mess.
The little heart embellishment came from the now-retired Celebrate Love Ephemera Pack, but don’t worry if you missed that one—there are plenty of adorable die cuts in the current Stampin’ Up! Mix & Match Ephemera Packs that would work just as well.

One of my favorite things about this card design is its flexibility. With a simple change of sentiment, you can make this card work for just about any occasion. Whether you’re sending hugs, congratulations, or just saying “thinking of you,” this card layout has you covered.
