Spooktacular Star Fold Cards: A Monster-ously Fun Halloween Trio
Meet My Spooky Little Monster Squad 🎃
Okay, friends, I’ve officially lost my mind over this card set, and I’m not even a little sorry about it. Say hello to my Spooktacular Star Fold Trio: Frankenstein, a vampire with the most dramatic eyebrows you’ve ever seen, and a grinning jack-o’-lantern.
First of all, each card front features one of these adorable faces matted on a 5″ x 6″ card base. Then, when you open the card, a dimensional star fold pops up along the side and stands the whole thing up like a mini Halloween display. In other words, it’s a card and a decoration all in one. Talk about a two-for-one treat!
The Paper That Stole My Heart (and Maybe My Soul)
Let’s be honest, the Stampin’ Up! Spooktacular Designer Series Paper did most of the work here. The monster faces come straight from the paper, so there’s no stamping or coloring required. (Cue the happy dance!) Plus, the orange, black and vanilla stripes on the vampire’s star fold come from the same pack, which makes coordinating a breeze.
Meanwhile, I borrowed the gray spiderweb pattern from the Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper for Frankenstein and a cheerful green polka dot from Regals Painted Patterns for my pumpkin pal. Finally, Old Olive, Basic Black and a soft gray cardstock pull everything together, so each card feels bold, festive and totally on-theme.
Why This Fun Fold Is Perfect for Beginners
Now, if you’re new to card making, don’t let that star fold intimidate you. It looks complicated, but I promise it’s just scoring, folding and gluing a few simple paper boxes. In fact, it’s one of my favorite fun fold cards to share with new crafters because the payoff is huge and the supply list is short. Also, since the faces are already printed on the designer paper, you get a showstopper card without needing a single stamp. So if you can fold paper, you can make this card. Pinky promise. 🤞
Boo-tiful Ways to Share Them
Here comes the fun part: deciding who gets one! Because these cards stand up on their own, they make an adorable Halloween decoration for a mantel, desk or kitchen windowsill. Additionally, they’re perfect for tucking into a trick-or-treat bag, surprising the grandkids, or sending to that one friend who starts decorating for Halloween in August (you know who you are). On top of that, they’d make a darling Halloween party invitation or a sweet “thinking of you” note for October birthdays. Of course, you might want to keep the whole monster squad for yourself. I won’t tell. 👻
