Let’s Get This Flamingo Party Started!
Hi friends! Did you know a group of flamingos is called a flamboyance? I can’t think of a more perfect word for today’s card, because these three singing birds are serving up big, bold, birthday-diva energy!
I created this Birthday Song Star Fold Card using the adorable Stampin’ Up! Birthday Song Stamp Set, and honestly, I giggled the entire time I was making it. The flamingos are belting out their best tune with wings spread wide and little musical notes floating all around them. Meanwhile, on the inside, the sentiment keeps the joke going by promising a birthday song that’s short and sweet. It’s the kind of card that makes someone laugh out loud before they even read your message!
About This Star Fold Card Design
Now, let’s talk about that fold, because this is where the magic happens! This fun fold card starts with a 5″ x 6″ Flirty Flamingo cardbase. Then, six scored panels of designer paper come together to create a gorgeous star shape right in the center. When the card opens, it stands up on its own like a little 3D sculpture, which means it doubles as instant décor. For the paper, I pulled the soft pink stripes from the Brights Painted Patterns Designer Series Paper, and they pair beautifully with the Flirty Flamingo cardstock.
Next, I framed the flamingos with Basic Black and Basic White layers so they really pop. Finally, a few Shimmering Dots add just the right amount of sparkle. Don’t let the fold intimidate you, either. If you can score, crease, and glue, you can absolutely make this card!
Products I’m Flocking Over
I have to confess, I’m a little obsessed with coloring these flamingos using Stampin’ Blends markers. I used Flirty Flamingo Blends for those fabulous feathers and Pumpkin Pie Blends for the legs and beaks. Better yet, I tapped the markers over the front white layer to create a fun splatter effect. It’s such an easy technique, and it gives the background a playful, confetti-like look without any extra supplies.

Of course, this card is a natural fit for birthdays, especially for your friends who love a little humor (or who sing “Happy Birthday” slightly off-key… no judgment here!). However, don’t stop there! These cheerful flamingos would also be perfect for a pool party invitation, a summer “just because” note, a tropical vacation send-off, or a card for your favorite music lover or choir friend. Additionally, since the star fold stands on its own, it makes a sweet centerpiece for a party table or a desk surprise at work. Truly, anyone who loves pink, sunshine, or a good laugh deserves one of these!
