Two Cards, One Fantastic Fold: Meet My All-Star Sports Cards!
Y’all, I am obsessed with how this set turned out! I created two Sports-themed Star Fun Fold cards — one football, one soccer — using the Football Fan stamp set for the gridiron version and the Jour De Match stamp set for the soccer version, both paired with the seriously gorgeous A Wonderful Match designer paper.
There’s just something about a fun fold card that never gets old for me — that little “wow” moment when someone opens it up and the whole thing pops into a star shape. If you love cards that do a little something extra, this fold is about to become your new favorite.
The Design: A Star Hiding in Plain Sight ⭐
Here’s the fun part — from the outside, these look like simple, sporty cards. But open them up, and that star fold panel unfolds into this beautiful dimensional burst of pattern that instantly makes the whole card feel next-level. On the football version, I went with a deep green field-inspired paper covered in Xs, Os, and little play-call arrows (so fun!), paired with a hand-colored football player and a cheerful “Happy Birthday.”
For the soccer card, I used a black-and-white hexagon soccer ball pattern for the fold and stamped up a colorful jersey and soccer ball with a “You Did It!” sentiment tucked underneath. Both folds are the exact same technique — just a different color story depending on the sport.
The Hero of the Show: A Wonderful Match Designer Paper 🧡
Can we talk about the A Wonderful Match designer paper for a second? This paper pack is doing so much heavy lifting on both of these cards, and it deserves all the credit. Between the hexagon soccer print, the field-play pattern, and all the coordinating solids, it’s basically the MVP of this whole project. One quick heads up: the Match Day Soccer bundle just wrapped up on the Last Chance list and sold out (RIP), but the Jour De Match version is still available and features those same fantastic soccer images if you want to grab it while you can.
Easy Team Spirit: Make It Match Any Squad 🎨
My favorite part of this whole design? You can totally customize those jerseys and helmets to match whatever team colors you need! Cheering on a peewee team this weekend? Grab your kiddo’s team colors. Making a card for the pro-level fanatic in your life? Swap in their jersey colors instead. It’s a simple change (just a matter of which markers you reach for), but it makes every single card feel personal, and no two ever have to look alike.
