Road to Christmas Accordion Pocket Fold Card Tutorial
Today’s project is extra special because it’s part of two ongoing series on my blog—my Road to Christmas Kit Series and my Accordion Pocket Fold Series. I love when a project bridges multiple favorites, and this one does it beautifully. This holiday card features a unique accordion-style opening with a hidden pull-out greeting, giving you that perfect “wow” moment while still being easy enough for newer card makers to try.

About the Card Design
This handmade card begins with the clever Accordion Pocket Fold, a style that adds dimension and movement without being complicated. When the card is opened, each panel expands like a mini holiday story unfolding—and tucked inside is a sweet pull-out layer where you can write a personal message.
Even better, the card folds completely flat, making it easy to mail. Just keep in mind that due to its layers, it may require a bit of extra postage.
Featuring the Road to Christmas Kit
The Stampin’ Up! Road to Christmas Kit continues to be one of my absolute favorites from the Kits Collection this season. It’s filled with beautifully coordinated die cuts, pre-printed elements, and charming holiday icons that work perfectly for fun folds like this.
For this project, I selected several of the kit’s die-cut pieces to build a warm, nostalgic Christmas scene. They layer beautifully over the accordion panels, and because the artwork is already printed and shaded, it adds instant depth without extra coloring or stamping—perfect for beginners and time-pressed crafters.

More About the Road to Christmas Kit
I made these 2 cards per the kit’s instructions. If you haven’t used this kit yet, you’re in for a treat. It’s designed to help crafters create quick, stylish holiday cards without needing extra tools or guesswork. That means beginners feel confident right out of the box, and seasoned makers can hit the gas pedal on decorating and embellishing.
Using the Greetings for You Ephemera Pack
To add the finishing touches, I incorporated sentiments from the Greetings for You Ephemera Pack. This set is one of my secret weapons for card making because it offers so many elegant, gold-accented word elements that pair seamlessly with any holiday theme.
The bold metallic words really stand out against the soft country textures in this project, letting you choose between a classic Christmas greeting or something more winter-themed. Since everything is precut and ready to go, you can experiment with several options until you find the perfect fit.
Country Woods Designer Series Paper
The background panels of the accordion fold are made with the Stampin’ Up! Country Woods Designer Series Paper, and it adds the coziest rustic charm to this card. The subtle wood grains and soft tones make the holiday die cuts pop in such a beautiful way.
This DSP works wonderfully for winter projects because it adds warmth without overpowering the focal elements. Plus, it coordinates effortlessly with both the kit pieces and the ephemera pack.
