Introducing the Star Fold: A Fancy Fold Card That Actually Lives Up to the Hype

Hey friends! Grab your coffee (or your third cup, no judgment) because I am SO excited to kick off a brand new fun fold series with you today — the Star Fold!

If you’ve been following along for a while, you know I love nothing more than adding a new fold to my card making toolbox, and this one is a total showstopper. It’s a fancy fold card that pops into a gorgeous 3D star shape, but here’s the best part: it also folds completely flat for easy mailing. Best of both worlds, right? Whether you’re brand new to card making or you’ve got a stash of scored paper taller than your cat, this one’s for you.

About This Card

So let’s talk folds for a second. The Star Fold is a fun 3D card style I learned from the talented Tina Zinck, and I could not wait to put my own spin on it and share it with you. When it’s open, it stands up tall and dimensional, giving you that “wow, did you make that?” reaction every card maker lives for.

But when you’re ready to send it, it folds flat just like a traditional card. It’s basically the crafting equivalent of a party dress that also doubles as pajamas — fancy when you need it, functional when you don’t.

The Products That Make It Shine

For today’s card, I’m using the brand new Stitched Season Suite, and friends, I am obsessed. This collection just dropped as part of the online exclusives, and the deep greens and rich reds paired with that classic holly print? Chef’s kiss. The Stitched Stocking stamp set brings the “Merry Christmas to you and yours” sentiment to life with the prettiest stitched detailing, and don’t even get me started on that little embossed background — it adds just the right amount of texture without overwhelming the design. Add in a satin ribbon bow and two sweet little buttons, and you’ve got yourself a card that feels equal parts cozy and elegant.

Now, don’t let the holly and holiday colors fool you into thinking this fold only works once a year. The Star Fold is endlessly versatile — swap out the paper and sentiment, and suddenly you’ve got a birthday showstopper, a “thinking of you” card, a graduation surprise, or even a fun sports-themed card for the athlete in your life.

Since it stands up on its own once opened, it also makes a fantastic little tabletop keepsake or a fun addition to a gift box. For today’s card though, it’s all about the season — this one is part of my Stamp It Group’s Christmas in July Blog Hop, so we’re getting a jump start on holiday card making before summer even winds down.
