Believe in Yourself – Help Sydney Call stop Bullying

blooming with kindness-stampin upThis card is dedicate to my friend, Sydney Call. Sydney is a first grader, who started out this past school year full of enthusiasm, which quickly turned to anxiety brought on by classmates who began bullying her.

Sydney Call speaks outSo what did this precious little first grader do? She wrote a song about it!

Sydney's song is called "Believe in Yourself", and Sydney and her family (parents and siblings) played it at their elementary school variety show. After the performance, one of the girls who had bullied Sydney approached her and promised to be nicer, saying "I don't want to be in any more songs!".

The Call Family, has begun their own band - Calling Out, you can read more here on their blog > Here is a AWESOME video Sydney and her family put together using their variety show performance and more! The kids are really excited to watch the view count go up.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF VIDEO

ABOUT THE CARD

"Each one of us is God's special work of art" fitting isn't it? The card was created with the Blooming with Kindness & Trust God stamp sets. The flower was stamped using the "Rock and Roll Technique" = stamp the image in Daffodil Delight, the roll the edges of the stamp in Cajun Craze.

CARD: Thank you from Everything Eleanor

everything eleanor-stampwithtamiQuick and cool cards are my favorites! I love beautiful, intricate cards as well. But too often when I'm card making my time is limited, and that's when I appreciate simple beauties like this from the Everything Eleanor stamp set. Designed by Christina Crawford, this is the perfect "all occasion" card. Simply swap out the "thank you" for one of the other greetings in the Perfectly Penned stamp set for a different occasion.

CARD: Washi Tape Background

6a0133ecd01a09970b01901d5ff952970b-450wiBefore the new catalog came out, I posted a poll on my Facebook page asking what you would new innovative/trendy products you'd like to see Stampin Up carry. One of the most popular answers: Washi Tape!

I have to admit, at first I was stumped. I hadn't heard of Washi Tape yet. What rock was I under? LOL! Cool stuff, and I see why y'all wanted it so bad. Today's card is from guest blogger, Linda Cullen. You can view her post (including the supply list) here> Linda writes:

How fun it this card? It screams summer. I was insprired by a card by Amy O'Neill. I just love the use of Washi Tape as a background element. This is one of the card we made at Club/Class this past Wednesday night.

DSC_0037-WM

How do you like my tag? I'm still missing the Two Tages die, and I haven't got my hands on the Chalk Talk Tags Framelits yet, so I had to dig through my supplies for a stand in. This is the largest die from the Apothecary Accents die. We just cut the end off. Super Cute!!

Hope you enjoy this fun card! Happy Stampin'.

NEW BLOG DESIGN! Celebrate with me

new blog grand opening

I'm so stinkin' excited to FINALLY unveil my new and improved blog design!! It's time to celebrate!!

As many of you may know, I'm a former website developer (by trade). I designed stampwithtami.com, and many other websites and blogs over the past 14 years. It has been the hardest thing for me to hire someone to do my new site for me, but I finally gave in. Updating the blog has been on my "to do" list for 2 years now, and it wasn't getting done. Like an old house that you keep adding additions on, my site was an "old" platform that I was adding "additions" on to and it needed a complete overhaul from scratch!

It's a big site, therefore it was a big job and we ran into lots of snags and "fun" challenges along the way. If you've been following me on Facebook you know it was originally scheduled to be rolled out with the new catalog release, but at the last minute testing we found we needed to change a few things.

Special thanks to Susan at Oh, Hello Designs, for all of her hard work through this process.Yep, her company name even matches a Stampin Up stamp set ... totally be coincidence.

OUT WITH THE OLD: Gone is the old picture of me and the life sized stampin' around wheel! I will miss it. This photo was not photoshoped BTW, that was a real wheel prop SU used to bring on cruises and let us take pictures with. Gone are also all of the errors and outdated code. I've had this site for almost 10 years, the internet was just a baby when stampwithtami.com was born - things get outdated quickly around here on the world wide web lol.

IN WITH THE NEW: The new site is totally built to be"user friendly" and functional. My goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to find ideas and inspiration, without getting lost in "clicks" and having to "back button" out lol.

Here are just some of the functions

  • Enhanced Search feature - making it easier for you to find what you are looking for on the site
  • Menus are now uniform across the entire site
  • Home page is now a Dashboard View of What's New across all of my sites (my blog, Facebook, Twitter, Google*, etc)
  • Videos are even easier to find
  • Mobile friendly design works great on your phones and tablets
  • the list goes on...

BEAR WITH ME: The next few days we'll be tweaking a few things here and there.

CELEBRATE WITH ME!
I would love to hear your feedback, and I will be rewarding you with a few bonuses over the next few days!! Stay tuned.

A Little (Digital) Something for Everyone

June 18, 2013

An exciting variety of new downloads just released this week. (PDF)

  • Do you have kids? With just a few clicks, you can keep the little ones busy all summer long with the Chores & More template. Or, they can capture all those memories with the Memory Milestones Photobook before "momnesia" gets the best of you.
  • Do you love traditional product? A great way to jump into digital is with a stamp brush set from the catalog like the new Lovely Romance Stamp Brush Set. Remind them that just like the traditional counterpart, it coordinates with the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies.
  • Are you a creative genius? See how easy it is to recolor elements in MDS like the Everybody's Business Designer Series Paper. We included 12 grayscale patterns just for that reason!

CONTEST: Design the next Stampin Up Stamp Set

Stamp Set Design Challenge!

Stampin' Up has created a way for you to help us design and choose new stamp sets—In with You (beta program). The In with You program is currently open to anyone in the United States and Canada, including District of Columbia, APO/FPO, and Puerto Rico, but not Québec. So spread the word!

Once you join our In with You online community, you can submit your original artwork for stamp set challenges, vote and comment on other people’s submissions, earn badges, and interact with others in the community. We will produce and sell one or more stamp sets from among the top-voted submissions in each challenge. Plus there are fabulous prizes for top designs.

Here’s the scoop on the first challenge:

Contest dates: June 17–July 15, 2013

Submit ideas early so you have plenty of time to gather support for your work (you know—get your friends to vote for your design).

Contest theme: Monsters, Zombies, Creatures with Horns

They say, “Be careful what you ask for.” We say, “Whatevs!” We’re looking for the best monster images for cards, scrapbook pages, and other craft projects. Show us your best hair-raising, spine-chilling, terrifying creatures. Or maybe you’re more comfortable with monsters and creatures in the cute category. We like those too! So muster your courage and submit five to ten images of your original artwork.

Prizes*:
1st place: $200 US/$200 CAN
2nd place: $150 US/$150 CAN
3rd place: $100 US/$100 CAN

*Winners determined by number of votes.

Your images may be our next great stamp set! We can’t wait to see your designs! Spread the word to everyone you know using this flyer.

For more information, submission guidelines, terms and conditions, and to participate, go to http://inwithyou.ideascale.com.

Check out these stinkin' cute ideas from Cindy (Stampin' Up!) :

Need something to keep the kids busy on a rainy day? Get out your Stampin’ Up! craft supplies and tools and help them create their own stick puppets! ( I covered my wood craft sticks with Designer Series Paper for a little extra color.)

These puppets were a snap to put together, and were so much fun to make. They would also be perfect package decorations or party favors.

VIDEO: Rev It Up Race Car Card

rev it up race car-stampwithtamiWhether you are a race car fan, Nascar, or just looking for some fun, you'll love today's video. Great for the guys/boys in your life, always looking for fun masculine "man-cards" and this is perfect. Also great for upcoming Father's Day this weekend.

Of course, being a motorcycle rider, the Rev Up the Fun stamp set was bond to be first on my list of new sets in the 2013-14 Stampin Up catalog. Funny that the first card I made with it is the race car, not the bike hehehe. In the video I'll show you how to create the look of "burning rubber" motion. I'll also using the brand new Magnetic Platform for the Sizzix Big Shot, which y'all voted most popular new item in my recent Facebook / Google+ Poll,

CARD: Flower Shop fun

flower shop-brenda-stampwithtamiYeah for new catalog fun!!! This beautiful card was created by Brenda Rivera. Brenda is a demo in my Stamp It group. I love the brushed gold / vanilla look, so elegant and classy. The new Flower Shop stamp set coordinates perfectly with the new Pansy flower Punch making this very easy to create. Brenda partially embossed the background layer with the new Beautifully Baroque impressions folder, then tore a slit to layer the main panel in. This creates a SUPER cool look!

FAQ: New Catalog Questions like – Where’s Christmas…and more

2013-06-catalog faq

Hope you've been enjoying the fabulous new Stampin Up catalog. I've had a few questions come up often, I'm sure many more of you were wondering these same things. So I thought some FAQ's would be helpful:

  • Where's Christmas?
    • Since it's only June, there's probably a few of us who haven't noticed the absence of all of the Holidays in the new Big Annual catalog. However, some of you are "on the ball" planners and immediately missed them. Fear not, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas / Hanuka are very much alive and have their very own publication coming out soon called the Holiday Catalog!
    • Holiday Catalog - formerly known as Holiday or Occasions Mini Catalog
  • When is the Holiday Catalog released?
    • Demonstrators - August 1 - click to learn more about joining Stampin Up
      • Demonstrators can preview it now, and all I can saw is WOW!!
    • Customers - September 1
  • World Map Stamp - when can we get it?
    • Many of you have listed the World Map background stamp as a "must have" in your wish list. It is currently being revised and will be available soon. I will post when it's available.
  • How do I purchase a Catalog?
    • You may purchase, or add a new catalog to your order by clicking here.
    • Free Catalogs - members of my stamp clubs get Free Catalogs whenever a new publication is released. Membership has it's privileges, that is one of the many.
  • Is there a Supply List for the new catalog?
  • Where is MDS - My Digital Studio content in the new catalog?
    • You may have noticed that there aren't any My Digital Studio discs in the catalog. We have found that the best way to feature digital content is through our digital venues. We will continue to offer exclusive hostess and catalog content in digital form (just not on discs).
  • Where do I find your current specials?
    • All of my current specials, including Stampin up promotions, can be found on my Specials page (click here or the button at the top of the page). They are also listed at the bottom of every post.
  • How can I stay notified of all current updates and specials as they come out?
  • Catalog corrections
    • Let's face it, mistakes happen in life. As perfect as our beautiful catalog is, it has a few flaws found after print.

clockworks-brenda riveraHere's a great masculine card idea from Brenda Rivera. Brenda shared this at a recent Stamp It Demonstrator Group meeting. Brenda used the Clockworks stamp set (#131973 w, #127292 cm) and the Game Spinner hands for the clock face. Brenda used the circle punches and bigz dies, however you can also use the the new Circle Framelits that were just released to create the circle pattern. WINNER: Chalk Talk Stamp Set drawing

free stampin up winner

Congratulations to Rita, who won my Free Chalk Talk stamp set (details here) for posting her fav new product on my Google Plus page. I loved reading all of your favorites, and will be using your feedback for choosing what to show in my upcoming videos!

Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot Framelits was the biggest hit, followed by many other great choices. Including the Candy Dots, which I used in yesterday's Joy Fold Card video.

There are still chances to win free stamps in both my Mystery Hostess Code: #PH34HGQU drawing (ends Monday) & Comment Craze drawing (ends June 15).

VIDEO: Joy Fold Sketched Birthday Card

sketched birthday-stampwithtami-joy foldThis is an awesome, fun, easy and cool card fold technique called the "joy fold". This card was created by my friend Liz Miller at Stampin With Liz. Sharing Liz's card was perfect because it has a special meaning for us, we both won this set free at Stampin' Up Leadership in January and couldn't show it until the new Catalog was released!! Pure torture!!! Check out the funny pic of Liz and I with the set in the video.

Alon with the Sketched Birthday and Really Good Greetings stamp sets, I'm also using the new Candy Dots ... voted one of the most popular new items in the catalog according to my recent FB + Google+ polls! And a touch of Dazzling Details Glitter beings some sparkle to the candle.

VIDEO: Horse Frontier “Lost Footage” Video

horse-frontier-tami-whiteToday's video is "lost footage" taped a year ago when the Horse Frontier and Core-dinations card stock were first introduced. I'm so glad I found it, it's really cool. The Core'dinations sandable card stock is the perfect backdrop to the horse image.

I apologize, since this footage is from last year a couple of the products shown have since been discontinued but they are easily substituted. The words can easily be subbed with either the words that come in the Horse Frontier stamp set. The ribbon slide can easily be replaced with the Naturals Designer Buttons.

Favorite New Products from the Concept Art Team – What is your fav?

Below is a post from the Stampin' Up! Home Office - Concept Art Team sharing their favorite new products.

Q: What is your favorite new product?
I love it all, hard to narrow down ... but I especially love the new magnetic platform for the Big Shot machine!!!

Our New Favorite Products

One of the best parts about being concept artists is that we get to see and use our new products so early. Actually, it can be a little torturous to use the new products and then have to wait to share with everyone else. We’re so glad that it’s now time to share all of the wonderful new products in our latest annual catalog!

Each of us has made a quick sample using some of our favorite new products.

Robyn:

Here are some of my favorites from the new catalog:

Angie:

There are SO many favorites in this catalog that it was hard to choose only a few.

Here is a list of my MUST HAVE RIGHT NOWs:

My favorite color combo right now is:

Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, and Basic Gray – and any products containing those colors: washi tape, buttons, ribbons, Designer Series Paper, etc.

Melody:

I agree with the other girls: there are so many new and exciting products in this catalog—it’s hard to pick just a few—but somehow I managed! The favorites I picked for my project are:

I only used Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe on my card, but I love all of the colors in the new revamp. It was sad to see some of them go, but I honestly love the returning and new colors so much that I haven’t missed the old colors at all.

Chrissy:

Some of my absolute favorite things out of the new catalog (in no particular order) are:

  • The Basic Black 3/4'' Chevron Ribbon because it's so versatile. You can cut it down the middle for a skinnier diagonal-striped ribbon. It's amazing, and a must-have.
  • The Chalk Talk Framelits Dies are great for making fun-shaped tags, and I love gift wrapping. It's also a must-have.
  • The Dictionary Background Stamp can be made to look vintage, eclectic, or bright and fun. There are so many looks you can achieve with this one background stamp! Not to mention book paper is still one of my favorite trends. This will definitely be joining my background stamp collection at home on my shelf. No doubt I'll be reaching for it often.
  • Some of the new colors make me want to do a happy dance. Crushed Curry (oh, how I missed you!), Bermuda Bay, and the brand new Coastal Cabana are all absolutely beautiful!

And, last (but certainly not least) is MDS. One of my favorite features is being able to cut out some of our images with an e-cutter. It's one of my favorite things lately, and I don't think I’ll be getting tired of it anytime soon . . . or ever. It's amazing software and I love it!

Jen:

There’s so much to love in our new annual catalog. I recently won a little Stampin’ Up! product certificate from our health fair at the home office. I’ve been holding off on redeeming my certificate so I could get my favorite new things:

  • Tag a Bag Bundle – I’m thrilled to have Crushed Curry and Bermuda Bay back! I love the colors in the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit. They’re versatile and bright, and I can’t wait to use them for treat bags. And they’re a great value at $9.95 for the bundle.
  • Thanks & Hello Stamp Set – Thanks & Hello are also versatile. I send more cards with “Thanks” or “Just because” than anything else. They’re sure to be a “go-to” set in my collection at home.
  • Crushed Curry 3/4" Chevron Ribbon – I love adding ribbon to gifts and treats. With the chevron pattern in crushed curry and white, it was love at first sight!

We hope that you are enjoying the new annual catalog as much as we are. And we’d love to hear what’s on the top of your shopping list . . . !

NEW: Photopolymer Stamp Set – Wanderlust

We're excited to announce that a new photopolymer stamp set is now available. Wanderlust (item 133452) is a great set for travelers-and wannabe travelers too. You and your customers will want to make sure to get this for capturing your summer trip memories, or to send a hand-made postcard to a friend or family member.

VIDEO: Open Sea Ship “Man Card”

the open sea-man card-stampwithtamijpgI love the schooner ship and nautical images in the Open Sea Stamp Set, and when you add the Clockworks stamp set into the mix with a little magic you get this amazing masculine card. Using colors like: Marina Mist & Pacific Point simply enhance the "nautical" theme. Perfect for birthdays, Father's Day, or any occasion for the men in your life. Inspired by my friend Michelle Zindorf.

There are some fun "direct to paper" techniques in the video, as well as some "funny" goof ups that I left in for your amusement, and I saved a few for an upcoming blooper real (Stay Tuned). Honestly, this video could have been it's own "blooper" episode lol. Did you ever have one of those days? Friends don't let friends create videos before caffeine!
