Out with the old, in with the New! New cutting systems are coming, Big Shot & Trimmer are retiring and what that means

The 2019–2020 annual catalog launch is just around the corner. This means many products in the current catalog will be discontinued / "retired". The complete list of Retiring Products will be officially announced on Monday, April 15. We have just been made aware of some exciting news. Stampin' Up will be releasing a brand new Die Cutting System, and a new Paper Trimmer! This means our current Big Shot and Accessories, and Paper Trimmer and accessories will be retired. It also means we won't be getting more in, so what is in stock is "while supplies last".

HOW WILL IT AFFECT YOU?

  • There will be a gap in time between when the Big Shot and the Stampin’ Trimmer retire with this current catalog (or sell out) until the time when the new products are available (we don’t know exactly how long this will be, but there will NOT be a Big Shot or a paper trimmer in the new 2019-2020 catalog in June)
  • If you need to stock up on some Stampin’ Trimmer supplies, do that soon. They have ordered what they hope to be a 6 month supply of trimmer blades, but they could go quickly. (Links below)
  • Continue to use your Big Shot or other die cutting machine with all Stampin’ UP! embossing folders and dies
  • Watch for a new style of dies and embossing folders in the new 2019-2020 catalog! Continue to use them with your current die cutting machine.
  • Dies, embossing folders and trimmer accessory items could sell out quickly, so shop early and don’t wait for the retiring list on Monday, April 15 to place your order if you have had your eye on any of the current dies or folders!

This is such a fun idea for a birthday card. The whole family is represented with stamps from the Stampin' Up Family & Friends stamp set. The images are colored with the Stampin' Blends markers. Stitched Rectangle dies cut out the top panels. Layered over butterfly patterned paper from the Needlepoint Nook DSP series. The background is patterned with the Tin Tile folder.

I had a little too much fun (is there such a thing?) with the "Poppin' Birthdays" March Paper Pumpkin kit. I decided to make Z fold alternate cards with the kit pieces. They were so much fun, I couldn't stop creating. Since the kit is sold out, and we can't get refills, I decided to do an "outside the box" card using the Stampin' Up Better Together stamp set and Broadway Bound designer series paper (wedding card). Sweet wishes card from the Stampin' Up Hello Cupcake stamp set that is available free during Saleabration. This is a pretty simple card, with a fancy border. The Brights DSP strips are adhered on a diagonal to a precut piece of Whisper White cardstock and then trimmed it down.

"Live as if someone left the gate open" card is a great encourgement, birthday or even graduation card idea. The horse and words are from the Stampin' Up Let it Ride stamp set. On the video I'll show you how I watercolored the horse, and made him pop out of the "stable door". That door was created with a combo of the Frosted Bouquet & Sliding Doors dies. CARD: Just a note card from the Home to Roost SAB Stamp Set

Just a note card from the Saleabration Home to Roost stamp set. Such a pretty card, designed by Julie DeGuia. For this background she cut out a rectangle with the Stitched Rectangles. Then sponged Balmy Blue for the sky and Pear Pizzaz for the ground. The reeds were inked with Pear Pizzaz and then use the Tranquil Tide Marker to make the tops darker. Julie wanted a more muted background so she added a layer of vellum over it by sponging Liquid Multipurpose Glue over the entire piece of vellum before laying it down. Layered on DSP from the Painted Seasons Collection, which will also be retiring with Saleabration.

CARD: Cool Painted Season Double Pleat Fold Card SAB Stamp Set

This card beauty features a super cool fold technique known as the Double Curtain Fold, or Double Pleat Fold. This card was designed by Julie DeGuia and she shares directions (and a diagram) for it below. I did a video a few years ago showing the single Curtain Fold that I've included as well. This card features flowers images and DSP from the Painted Seasons Bundle that is available free during Saleabration (ends Mach 31). It used Healing Hugs for the "Get Well Soon" words.
