Shepherd’s Care Sunburst Card Tutorial – Part 2 in My Starburst Series
Are you ready for part 2 in my Sunburst Card Series? Today’s handmade card features the beautiful Stampin’ Up! Shepherd’s Care stamp set paired with the striking Sunburst (or Starburst) card technique—a perfect match for creating heartfelt cards filled with warmth and light.
This design is especially close to my heart. With its soft, glowing burst behind the shepherd and lamb, this card radiates peace, making it ideal for a variety of occasions—from sympathy and encouragement to spiritual holidays like Christmas and Easter.

A Peaceful Card with Purpose
For this card, I chose a gentle color palette using two of the new 2025–2027 Stampin’ Up! In Colors: Cloud Cover and Darling Duckling. These hues contrast beautifully and bring a calming, comforting energy to the card. The starburst design is created using alternating wedges of In Color Designer Series Paper in both colors, forming a glowing backdrop behind the shepherd image—almost like a halo.
Technique Tip: Creating the Starburst
The starburst (also known as sunburst) technique is a fabulous way to use up scraps of designer paper while adding visual impact. In my free video class replay, I walk you step-by-step through how to cut and position your paper rays just right. I’ve also included tips for aligning your pieces perfectly for a symmetrical, polished finish—plus some creative ideas for switching up your color combos!
Colored with Love
To bring the shepherd and lamb to life, I used Stampin’ Blends markers for soft, layered coloring. These alcohol markers blend effortlessly and really help the image pop against the background.
