Hidden Pocket Tri-Fold Thanksgiving Card | Fun Fold Card Tutorial with the Stampin’ Up! Autumn Fields Scrapbook Kit

Meet the Hidden Pocket Tri-Fold (Your New Favorite Fold!)

Hi stampers! I’m so excited to share the very first card in my brand-new fun fold series, the Hidden Pocket Tri-Fold! From the front it looks like a pretty gatefold card. Then you open it, the panels fan out, and a hidden pocket shows up inside. It’s a “wow” moment, and you’re the one who gets the credit. 😉 Even better, it’s much easier to make than it looks. I have a video class that walks you through the card base step by step, so if you’re new to card making, don’t worry. If you can score, fold and glue, you can make this card. Pinky promise!

Falling Head Over Heels for the Autumn Fields Scrapbook Kit

For this first card I went all in on Thanksgiving, and the Stampin’ Up! Autumn Fields Scrapbook Kit was the perfect choice. Those warm golden sunflowers, rich reds and cozy browns feel like a pumpkin spice latte in paper form. ☕🌻 It also coordinates beautifully with the Sunflower Fields Suite, so you can mix and match without any color stress.

Don’t have the kit? No problem! You can easily swap in the Sunflower Fields 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper & Sticker Sheet along with the Radiant Sunflowers Bundle. Then I added an embossed white panel, that big bold “Thankful” sentiment and a few sparkly gems, and the card was done. Honestly, I didn’t want to stop looking at it (or pretend I was going to give it away).

A Pocket Full of Possibilities

The hidden pocket is my favorite part of this design. It’s just the right size for a gift card, and those are always welcome. However, it’s great for so much more! Tuck in a heartfelt note, a handmade bookmark, a photo, a recipe card, or even a few dollars for the grandkids. There’s also a roomy panel next to the pocket for writing your message, so you’ll never have to squeeze “Happy Thanksgiving, love you, see you at Christmas” into a tiny corner again. Your hand cramps will thank you. 🙌

Not Just for Turkey Day

Although I made this one with Thanksgiving in mind, this fold works for just about any occasion. Swap the papers and sentiment, and you’ve got a birthday card, a teacher thank-you, a graduation gift card holder, a wedding card, or a “just because” surprise for a friend. In fact, the hidden pocket makes this the perfect card any time you’re giving a gift card and want it to feel a little more special than a plain envelope from the checkout lane. Make one, and I bet you’ll be planning three more before the glue dries!

Hidden Pocket Tri-Fold Card Instructions

Ready to make your own? Below you’ll find my written step-by-step instructions, plus a video from my previous Angled Slimline Fun Fold Class that shows exactly how to do the fold. Just a heads up: I designed this card slightly bigger than a standard A2 card, so a regular envelope won’t quite fit. Don’t panic! I’ll also show you a quick and easy custom envelope made from matching Designer Series Paper. It’s simple, it fits perfectly, and it makes your card look even more put together.
