Ombre Easel Fun Fold Cards
In this class I’m going to sharing several crafting techniques to create this ombre background easel fun fold card. It uses the Stampin’ Up Summer Shadows Dies that are available free during Sale-a-bration. The dies also coordinate with the Shaded Summer stamp set that is in the Annual Catalog. I didn’t have the stamp set, and it turns out these dies are pretty amazing all on their own. They don’t need to be paired with the stamp set.
The words are from the In Your Words Sale-a-bration host set.
Techniques in this class include:
- Ombre background technique
- Masking
- Blending Brushes
- Heat Embossing
- Splatter Effect
- Easel Card Fun Folds
- Working with Adhesive Strips
This card is a part of my series on Sale-a-bration. Click here for more ideas. This ombre card was inspired by Jacque Williams from New Zealand. I have a free pdf below with measurements, a complete supply list. All supplies are available in my online store.
I’ll share a tutorial for the Z-Fold card I shared on the video here on my blog on Sunday.
REVISED TO INCLUDE CARD #2
The original pdf didn’t have card #2 because I made it on the video. I’ve updated the pdf to include both cards.

PHOTOS
After masking the background, the mask was too pretty to throw away so I had some fun on the video and made a 2nd card with the left overs on the fly.
My original card was a traditional fold. I didn’t have the Shaded Summer Stamp Set so I subbed the Beauty of Tomorrow Stamp Set for the background. I used the Limited Edition Saleabration host set called In Your Words for the words.
After I made the original card, I wanted to step it up with a fun fold so I created the easel card using the same techniques.
The words are heat embossed with white embossing powder (basics collection). The label comes from the Potted Succulent dies.
I’ll share how I used Water Painters to create the splatter effect technique for the background. The Adhesive Sheets make life so much easier when it’s time to attach the flowers.
After I made the first card there was this beautiful rainbow ombre mask that was too pretty to throw away so I did some on the fly stamping in the class to make Card #2. What do you think?

Wow…great ideas & the cards are beautiful.Love the way they pop!
That was impressive Tami, thanks for sharing. I liked the masked ombre card more with the black flowers.
Tami,
I happen to have both the stamp set and the dies, but I have purchased several die sets that don’t need the stamps to make beautiful cards. Thank you for demonstrating how that works.
Will make both cards, probably several times. You get two for
the work of one.
Thanks, Pam V
I think my favorite card was the white one! Although the black one looks beautiful and it’s a great way to use the scraps, I still like the white one best. I have learned how to use my scraps like you did to make a second card! Thank you Tami.
#stampitcontest Love it!!
Love the way you show us tricks and tips. Love both cards. I like when nothing goes to waste. Kind of the way we were brought up. Thanks for what you do to make card making so, so much fun.
You’re welcome! I hate waste also – I wonder if that’s a New England thing?
I love both cards, but my favorite is, I hate to say is the second one with the black flowers they seem to pop out more with all those pretty colors and the black. Thank you for the video.
You’re welcome! I welcome all different tastes, so thank you for sharing!
Love the card, great job on both of them
