These cards were especially fun to make with the extra-long design of the slimline layout. It really helped play up the puns from the “Not 29 Anymore” and “Long Time No See” stamp sets. A little sass goes a long way—and these cards deliver!

Products & Techniques

For both cards, I used the Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder to add a bit of texture and dimension to the backgrounds. This little folder packs a punch and works perfectly with slimline-sized designs.

On the “So Many Candles” card, I went all-in with color! I stamped the candles from the Choose Happy stamp set across the entire card front, then colored them in with Stampin’ Blends markers from the Brights Collection. The bold Berry Burst background is from the new Painterly Pear Designer Series Paper—so vibrant and fun!

And because I can’t resist a little sparkle, I finished off the flames with a touch of Wink of Stella for some subtle shimmer.

The second card stars a hilariously long-necked llama to match the punny sentiment “Long Time No See” from the stamp set of the same name. I had some fun with this one and extended the llama’s neck all the way down the slimline card front to really stretch the joke—because it’s been way too long! The exaggerated design pairs perfectly with the vertical layout. I colored the llama with Stampin’ Blends markers to give it personality, then layered it up with coordinating cardstock for a crisp finish. It’s a card that’s sure to get a smile (and maybe a snort-laugh)!

Why Slimline?

Slimline cards offer a playful twist on standard card sizes—and they’re perfect for stretching out sentiments, scenes, or (in this case) a row of birthday candles! They still fit in a standard #10 business envelope, so no extra postage is needed unless your embellishments add extra bulk.
