Spotlight on the Sunflowers – Card Tutorial
Hello, crafty friends! I’m excited to share this gorgeous pair of handmade cards featuring the brand new Stampin’ Up! Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder. These cards are not only easy to make but also showcase some cool techniques that let your embossed designs take center stage. Whether you’re new to card making or a seasoned crafter, these ideas will spark your creativity.
About the Cards
This set includes two stunning sunflower-themed cards, each with its own unique style and technique. Instead of using the embossing folder just for a background, I let it shine as the focal point of both cards—truly making the sunflower the star of the show!
Card #1: White Elegance with Gold Accents
For the first card, I went for a clean and classic white-on-white design with black and gold accents. I embossed two layers with the Sunflower folder and then fussy cut one of the large sunflowers to pop it up over the background.
The result is an elegant, textured look that really catches the eye—perfect for weddings, sympathy, or thinking of you cards.
The sentiment, heat-embossed in white on black cardstock, comes from the beautiful new Prairie Grass Stamp Set.
Card #2: Adding Color with Sponge Daubers
The second card brings a pop of color!
I used Sponge Daubers to blend ink directly onto the embossed sunflower, giving it beautiful dimension and warmth.
To match the Pool Party mat layer, I got a little creative—I colored White Woven Ribbon with a Pool Party Stampin’ Blends Marker to create perfectly coordinated ribbon.
The greeting is from the Artistic Leaves Stamp Set, another must-have from the upcoming Online Exclusives collection.
