    With Sympathy

Posted on February 8th, 2010, no responses.

sympathy-tami-white-1Your loved one will always be as close as a memory, and the God of all comfort as close as a prayer” - I love this verse from the Close as a Memory stamp set. Sometimes we stamp for joy, and sometimes we stamp for pain…today’s post is dedicated to the loss of loved ones and friends.

These are a couple of beautiful sympathy cards. The first uses the verse I quoted above and the Stampin Up Close as a Memory set (114946), along with the Little Leaves Sizzlet (114511) and Blossom Party (115971) Big Shot dies.

The green and pink card is created with the Sweetest Stem Embosslit die (114513) & Scallop circle #2 (113469) die, than some Stampin’ Pastels chalks sponged for the color. The tree card is the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set (113252) and some Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Paper (115675).

Cyber Wedding Expo: Invitations Part 7

Posted on February 6th, 2010, no responses.

wedding-invitation-saraschuelerMy cyber wedding expo of hand stamped ideas is still going strong! Today’s contribution is from Sarah Schueler. Sarah steps outside the traditional wedding stamp set “box” with her invitation, she stamped this with the Friends 24-7 stamp set (113218). The crushed curry ink and paper can easily be changed  to any bride’s wedding colors.

The top section text is printed on Vellum card stock (101856), ribbon accents are Whisper White Organza (114319) and Basic Black Grosgrain (109027).

Photo cards: Is it Live or is it MDS?

Posted on February 5th, 2010, no responses.

anitas-christmas-photo-cardHow’d she do that? This card looks like it has several layers of photos, designer paper and stamps…but in reality it’s 1 flat layer, created in the My Digital Studio software program and printed as a glossy photo. The photo was then layered on chocolate chip card stock! It’s amazing. Even in person it looks layered, and the brads and buttons look so real you want to touch them hehehehe.

This was created by my friend and downline Anita. She’s sooooo talented, not to mention her beautiful family. She even created the inside panel in MDS (My Digital Studio), layering the digital curly label punch on designer paper and adding the text, then printed it and attached to the inside of the card.

Hybrid Stamping: The art of mixing card stock and embellishments with digital stamping is called  “hybrid”. It’s another way to use MDS, in addition to the professional printing services that come with it, you can also print yourself at home and create these cool projects.

VIDEO TUTORIAL: Punchy the M&M Lion

    Posted on February 3rd, 2010, 9 responses.

lion-heart-punchy-2This is just the stinkin’ cutest dang thing … ever! Check him out, he’s Punchy the Lion! Made from punches, and his body is a heart treat cup. Can you stand it?!?! Have a Lion King fan? Here’s your Simba. Roooooar!

This is just an over the top in cuteness! The lion’s head is the scallop circle punch, and the tail is the 2 step bird punch from the Occasions mini catalog. The heart cup is filled with M & M candy, turning this from card extraordinaire to treat. I love outside of the box creations, and this one is tops, inspired by the queen of punches Jackie Topia.

    Presents to share

liz-miller-flowerDon’t you just love getting presents? Especially when they are a surprise! I was really excited to open my mail and receive this gem from my friend and downline Liz Miller. We attended SU Leadership and Regionals in Phoenix several weeks ago, and this paper rosette flower was one of the techniques we learned (click here to view video tutorial). Look at how beautiful this is! I love how she used the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt flowers (117266) as the center and leaves

     bird-punch-sharon-mackinnon

This beautiful basket is a gift from my mom, Sharon MacKinnon. She is a new demonstrator in my group. She made this for a class she is doing, and was kind enough to give me one. She used the new 2 step bird punch (117191), and the Stampin Up Baskets & Blooms Bigz XL die (113484) for the Big Shot.

A couple of reminders since tomorrow is the last day of the month:

    ·

And if you sign up on to be a demo on or before Sunday, you’ll also be a part of something very special (fingers crossed) I’m trying really hard to bring the CEO of Stampin Up to Massachusetts!! If I win, you do too!! You could meet Shelli Gardner! Here’s more on the story >

Cyber Wedding Expo: Favors - Part 5

    Posted on January 29th, 2010, 2 responses.

scultpured-glassJust think how beautiful these little fancy “sculptured glass” bags will be for wedding favors (either on the wedding tables, or at the bridal shower). It’s made with Stampin Up Window Sheets (this bag uses the thick sheets 114324). The bag design is the Big Shot cut Bag with Scallops Bigz XL Die (114519), and texture is created with the Finial Press Impressions folder (115963). Whisper White Organza ribbon (114319) is heated with the embossing heat gun to give it a little crinkle. Filled with Hershey Nuggets candy (you can even decorate the nuggets, click here for a video). This bag was created by Laura Weed.christmas-punch

I did a video tutorial over the holidays on how to create this “sculptured glass” technique (click here to view). The original uses the Stampin Up Fancy Favor Bigz XL die (115965). After watching the video, Laura created this gorgeous sample and was sweet enough to give me one. I love it! I love seeing (and hearing) your creativity when you’ve been inspired by the site, you all are the best!

peggy-murinThis is a gorgeous, elegant and shimmery wedding invitation. It is a subtle, very vanilla on very vanilla layer. Uses the Wedding Sweet stamp set (115466) and is stamped in Shimmer White Shimmer paint. The inside is embossed with the Perfect Details texture plate (115962) for the big shot, and it matches the stamps on the front perfectly. There is a folder that has the HOTEL, RSVP, CEREMONY and RECEPTION detail cards stacked in it for a perfect presentation.

    VIDEO TUTORIAL: Glassine Treat Bags

    Posted on January 28th, 2010, 3 responses.

demo-meeting-2Love is in the air, and so is the smell of cookies! Join me for today’s video, and learn how to make this stinkin’ cute Valentine’s day treat bag perfect for the kids at school, co-workers and friends. this project uses the new Glassine bags from the Occasions mini catalog. I had to watch it twice, because I thought I’d completely the whole video without saying stinkin’ cute, but thankfully the second time around I caught two of them (wshew). I know you’re probably thinking “only 2 she must be slipping“. I will add a few extra “stinkin’ cutes” to the next video to make up for it. Missy Malone told me her daughter calls me the “stinkin’ cute lady” when she watches the videos…don’t want to disappoint the fans hehehehe! Thanks for watching!

demo-meeting-3Join me for today’s video, I’ll share some tips on creating random sizes with the new Stampin’ Up edge and corner punches.

Using the punches seperately  makes a pretty accent to your project. When using them together, they make a stunning border that really draws attention. However, when you use the 2 together, you’ll want to use a standard size (chart below). Sometimes the standard size doesn’t fit the project you are creating, and that’s where these tips will come in handy.

Special thanks to Gretchen Barron for both this darling card design, and for her help with custom punch sizes.
