Fun with Flower Fest! This super cool card uses the Flower Fest stamp set (#122278 wood, #122280 clear mount) for the main flowers and leaves. The "Thanks so Much" greeting comes from the Sincere Salutations stamp set #115068. The flowers are stamped on the First Edition Designer Paper #121878, the the color is applied with Sponge Daubers #102892 to the flowers for the "soft" look. Here is a beautiful Spring card using the Simply Soft Hostess stamp set (#122565 wood, 122567 clear mount), combined with butterflies from the Summer Solstice stamp set (#122024 wood, #122037 clear mount). The "Happy Easter" greeting comes from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set #115370. I received this beautiful "Bleeding Heart" card from my friend Michelle Zindorf. It's such a beautiful work of art, using the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set #111672, Stampin' Sponges #101610 and a Brayer #102395. Michelle's cards are works of art, I'm such a huge fan and so touched, on several levels, to receive this in the mail. I received this beautiful card from my friend Mary Fish. Mary used the Fresh Vintage Stamp set (125115 wood, 125117 clear mount) found in the Sale a Bration catalog. She punched the post images out with the 1" Square Punch #124094, then punched the coordinating card stock colors in the Postage stamp punch #122344. Here are a few more of the beautiful hand-stamped sympathy cards I received from friends this week.This first card was from friend Jean Brown. I love, love how she created these trees. The tree trunks and "thinking of you" are from the Trendy Trees stamp set #113258. The top of the trees was created with the Doily Triple Layer punch #122465. This punch is like having 2 punches in 1. This week I received the most touching, and stinkin' cutest card in the mail from a very special fan. I was so touched when I received this card in the mail, I had tears in my eyes. Let me share a little bit about Katelyn, she is 5 years old (can you believe that?) and her mom Kim writes:
"My daughter, Katelyn, loves watching your videos. She is 5 years old and your videos are her go to entertainment on youtube :) ... She has actually taught ME a lot of things and gives me little facts as we're crafting that she has picked up from watching videos on her own. I asked her what she had in mind and she said she wanted to make YOU a card!! She spent all day Satruday re-watching your videos to decide what she wanted to make and we sat down Saturday night and she was just exploding with creativity! I was quite impressed. "

A tribute to Dick MacKinnon

Today's post is a little tribute to a great (and humble man): my step-father, Dick MacKinnon, or Grampa Dick (as we know and love him). Grampa Dick passed away suddenly this weekend. Although it's not stamping related, sharing this therapeutic for me...
It was the phone call you hope you never receive from a loved one's cell phone..."Is this Tami White?...This is the Shrewsbury Police Department..." at 6 pm Sunday evening. Grampa Dick lived alone, he and my Mom are divorced, and still very close. I had been trying to reach him all weekend. I thought this was him finally calling back. I was about to tease him for taking so long. The Detective informed me that Grampa Dick had passed away, and the floor came out from under me. A neighbor had noticed a UPS slip on his door for a couple of days, and his car was home so they got worried and checked on him and found him. It happened fast, he was not in pain. The third and final installment in my series of Nature Silhouettes Stamp Set #11154 is the wolf baying at the moon. This time my inspiration came from a similar swap card from my friend Debi Pipen. The background is done with sponge daubers #102892, and masked the moon (see similar video tutorials linked on part 1 of this series). Part 2 in my series of Nature Silhouettes Stamp Set #11154 that my friend Shayna and I created, is the lone stag. Another inspiration from my gal Michelle Zindorf. The tree was colored direct to rubber with Stampin' Write markers, than stamped on the image. Then some white gel pen #105021 highlights. The background is done with sponge daubers #102892, and a little masking and some help from the Plant Hope stamp set (#117042 wood, #120540 clear mount). The Nature Silhouettes Stamp Set #11154 is one of those underused greats in the Stampin' Up! Catalog! The Wolf and Deer/Stag silhouettes are great, so many possibilities. My friend Shayna and I have been creating with this set, today's card is the first in our series. The inspiration for it came from the great Michelle Zindorf. The background is done with sponge daubers, and a little masking. Other stamp sets we used are Lovely as a Tree #115026 and Extreme Elements #115181.
