Slimline Floral Card | Virtual Retreat Alternate Project
There’s something extra special about creating cards from pieces you already have—and this slimline floral card is a perfect example of that. I made this card using repurposed pieces from my Stampin’ Up! Virtual Card Making Retreat Box, and I absolutely love how it turned out. The long, slimline format really lets the floral design shine, while still keeping the card simple, elegant, and very doable for beginners.
To start, I followed the cutting guidelines printed on the back of the retreat kit papers. This makes it easy, especially if you’re newer to card making, because the guesswork is already done for you. From there, I took leftover designer paper with printed flowers and transformed it into the focal point of this card. Instead of leaving the flowers as-is, I colored them with Stampin’ Blends markers, which instantly added depth, shading, and that hand-colored wow factor we all love.
One of my favorite things about this project is how approachable it is. Even if coloring feels intimidating, Stampin’ Blends are very forgiving and beginner-friendly. I’ll be adding a video from a previous class right here on the blog where I share easy tips for blending, shading, and choosing color combinations. In addition, you’ll find a downloadable PDF with the full instructions so you can craft along at your own pace—pause, rewind, and re-create whenever you like.
For the sentiment, I used the exclusive stamp set included in the Virtual Retreat Box, which makes this card feel extra special and truly one-of-a-kind. Perfect for birthdays, thinking-of-you cards, or just sending a little happy mail. Overall, this project is a great reminder that you don’t need brand-new supplies to make something stunning—sometimes the magic is in using what you already have in a fresh way.
