VIDEO TUTORIAL: Chic Fleece Flower Pins
Posted on May 27th, 2010, 2 responses.
These fun-to-wear fabric flower pins are just amazing! My friend BJ Peters taught us how to create these using fleece (as in polar fleece) fabric at our 3rd annual Stampin Up Demonstrator Extravaganza last Saturday. I created this video tutorial (below) to demonstrate how easy these are to make.
These great fabric flowers are all the rage, I’ve seen them for sale in boutiques for $20+ up! Wow, they were selling for the same price as 1 of the Big Shot dies I used to make them!! Talk about paying for itself in no time, you can create one for each outfit.
The flowers are so fun and easy to make, even a “non-sewer” like myself can do this…no sewing machine necessary lol! Just some circles cut from the Big Shot die cut machine (yes, really, circles) a needle and thread and you’re on your way…and if I can do it anyone can. Those of you who sew will get a kick out of my “amature” stitching in the video. The inspiration sheet includes a picture of the supplies and circles you’ll need to create the flowers, be sure to print it off and jot down some notes on it as you watch the video.
Try using different colors of fleece/felt or fabrics together to create fun effects like these, you can make the flowers in 2 sizes from the Circles #2 die, either using the 3 smallest or 3 largest circles (flowers shown use the 3 largest). The sassy, feathered skull and crossbones is my favorite, I designed that one in honor of my friend Leasa Williams. BJ put some of hers on one of the Big Shot bags she made with the scallop square die.

BJ’s Big Shot Bags - Extravaganza Part 3
Posted on May 27th, 2010, one response.
BJ Peters, from Hastings, MN was one of the guests presenters at our 3rd annual Stampin Up Demonstrator Extravaganza last Saturday. She is so amazingly talented, and has a special gift for Big Shot creations outside the box. Her presentation was on “Super sizing your Big Shot” and she really showed us how to do this and then some!
Yesterday I posted some of the quilts she created with the Big Shot dies, today’s projects are purses and bags she created using the Scallop Square Die (115950) and fabric. The wooden handles were purchased at a craft store. BJ used pre-quilted fabric for the blue and chocolate bag.
Do you notice the gorgeous flowers on the olive corduory bag? Stay tuned for a video tutorial on how to make these super cool, super easy flowers from BJ!

BJ’s amazing Big Shot quilts - Part 2
Posted on May 26th, 2010, 2 responses.
Here are a couple amazing quilts BJ Peters shared with us at the Stampin Up Demonstrator Extravaganza last Saturday. The Flowered quilt uses the Flower Die (114534), Flower Folds (115970), Scallop Square Die (115950) and even the Oval Scallop Die (114521) for the vase (which I think is pure genius!). Did you know you can cut up to 8 pieces of fabric at one time with the Big Shot die cut machine (113439)? Amazing!
This gorgeous “America” quilt uses the 5-point 3D Star die (113473), Stars #2 (113461), Scallop Square Die (115950) and the alphabet is the Serif Essentials (113464).

New England Stampin Up Extravaganza - Part 1
Posted on May 25th, 2010, 2 responses.
This past Saturday, May 22 was our 3rd annual New England Stampin Up Demonstrator Extravaganza, and it was AMAZING!!! This year I co-hosted the event with Deb Valder, and we held it in Springfield, Ma. Demonstrators, customers and friends came from all over for the event. Our guest speakers Meg Loven & BJ Peters flew in from IL & MN and I was lucky enough to get to spend some time with them before the big day.
We also had fantastic technique presenters. and a room full of displays. I left so excited, and filled with ideas I didn’t know which one to try first! This is the first of several posts of pictures from the event, stay tuned for tons more.

Meg Loven presents fantastic ideas on building a healthy business.

BJ Peters presents “Super sizing your Big Shot” prepared to be WOWed by some of these ideas (coming soon)

Here is an incredibly gorgeous card using a vellum “stained glass” technique for my series this week on the Elements of Style stamp set. It is so easy, and beautiful to do. This card also features the new Square Lattice impressions textured folder for the Big Shot Die Cut machine, which has fast become a favorite of mine. Designed by my friend and downline, Sue McQuiston.

The Elements of Style Hummingbird
Posted on May 22nd, 2010, no responses.
Today I have 2 beautiful cards using the Elements of Style stamp set (118611 Wood, 120045 Clear Mount). You can see from both these pretty samples, and the previous posts this week on Elements of Style that this set is very versatile. Today’s cards show the hummingbird as the focal point. I love hummingbirds, they are such beautiful creatures. The Melon Mambo card was created by Tiffany Bauer, and the Bravo Burgundy card was created by Betty Weisbrich.

Elements of Style Cracked Glass
Posted on May 20th, 2010, one response.
Continuing on my series of the Elements of Style stamp set (118611 Wood, 120045 Clear Mount), this amazing card is another fantastic example using the “Cracked glass” technique from yesterday’s video tutorial (click here to view). This card was created by Kristina Koch. Kristina used the Distressing tool from the Cutter kit (106958) to destress the edges. She also used the new Stampin’ Up Square Lattice impressions folder (119976) for the textured background, and the new Presto Patterson Specialty paper (117175).

Today and tomorrow we’re putting the final preparations together for our HUGE Annual Stampin Up Extravaganza which will be held Saturday in Springfield, MA! I’ve been working really hard on this event over the past few months, and am just bursting at the seams to be there. Can’t wait to share, and see everyone and stamp, stamp, stamp!! I’ll be posting more from the event next week.

Spotlight on Elements of Style
Posted on May 19th, 2010, 5 responses.
Spotlighting is a technique used to draw attention to a certain part of an image, in this case the flowers from the Elements of Style stamp set (118611 Wood, 120045 Clear Mount) were stamped, colored and then punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle punch. They were layered on black circles punched with the 1 3/8″ Circle punch to make them pop off the Regal Rose panel of card stock. Created by Cindy Peterson. Cindy used the Groom Specialy paper (116478) for an accent.

VIDEO TUTORIAL: Cracked Glass Butterfly
Posted on May 18th, 2010, one response.
Watch your stress melt-away with this “stress relief” card, the tearing, crumpling and color spritzing techniques really work it out! And just wait until you get to the cracked glass technique on the butterfly, it looks like a family heirloom. You’ll love this gorgeous installment in my series this week on the Elements of Style stamp set. Designed by my friend and downline, Jenni Ingerick.

New Elements of Style Series
Posted on May 17th, 2010, 3 responses.
This gorgeous card kicks off a series I’m doing, focusing on the Elements of Style stamp set (118611 Wood, 120045 Clear Mount) in the Stampin’ Up! Summer mini catalog. Everything I’ve seen created with this stamp set is just gorgeous. Today’s card is another great example of this, created with stampin’ write markers, a little tearing and sponging for the “vintage effect”. Designed by Jane Wike. Jane used Chocolate Chip, Old olive and Ivory Confetti card stocks, and stamped the swirling image from the set very faintly on the background of the ivory for this effect. It’s stunning!

Join me for today’s video, where we’ll be making a super cool Graduation Cap Gift card holder! Set to impress your favorite graduate both inside and out OR use this cool idea for Graduation party invitations. A cool hinged scallop square cap/card, with slots to hold your gift card inside. Make this with your grads’s school colors simply by changing the grosgrain ribbon tassel. Listen for a cameo from my 9 year old son, his video debut:)

You are my sunshine - Sweet Treat Cups
Posted on May 15th, 2010, 2 responses.
Isn’t this just the cutest card? I LOVE it! Cheryl Flynn gave me this card on the cruise last week. She made it with the Sweet Treat cups (116802), the Bumble Bee inside is a Lindt chocolate (yummy). It’s killing me not to eat him, but he’s toooo stinkin’ cute! Ranking high on the stinkin’ cute-o-mter, this uses the Something Sweet stamp set.
