Hello Again - Flower box card

Posted on April 30th, 2010, no responses.

img_3080 This is such a cute card! It was designed by my friend, downline and assistant Ellen Quinton for our demonstrator group shoebox swap. Ellen used the Hello Again stamp set (113780) and created a “flower box” effect using the scallop edge punch (112091) and the white gel pen (105021) to create a “faux punched hole” effect. She used ribbon originals Elementary (116231) and the Polka Dot impressions folder from the Occasions mini catalog (117335).

Posted on April 28th, 2010, one response.

dawn-gutro1This is such a fun birthday card! The stamp set is called Bitty birthday (114934), and it was a really fun fold. The birthday cake is colored with the Stampin Pastels (105542) and blender pens (102845). The topper is the Crystal Effects (101055) used on the icing, it really makes it pop! The card also uses the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder from the Occasions mini catalog (117335). Awash with Flowers Faux Layering

Posted on April 27th, 2010, one response.

sharon-mackinnonThe Awash with Flowers stamp set is a gorgeous 2 step stamp set, and there are so many ways you can use it. As a traditional 2-step set, and you can watercolor with it. Today’s project shows it done with the faux layering” technique. It’s simple and beautiful in the Rich Razzleberry. This was designed by my mom (and downline) Sharon MacKinnon. Click here for some more Awash with Flowers projects and videos >.

The Awash with Flowers stamp set and my customer apprecation special are both only available until April 30.

Totally Tool Box card

Posted on April 26th, 2010, 2 responses.

lynn-wilcox-fathers-day1I hear James Taylor singing “hey baby, I’m your handyman…” when I see this card! It’s just perfect for the “fix it” men in our lives. The top corners of the card were cut an an angle to create the “tool box” effect, the background is the Woodgrain background stamp (117100), handle is made from punching the Large oval punch (107305), and the stamps come from the Totally Tool stamp set (113256). This is such a great Father’s Day card idea.

This card was designed by Lynn Wilcox for our demonstrator shoebox swap >.

Saying goodbye to the Occasions Mini - Part 2

Posted on April 25th, 2010, no responses.

tami-waddell-1

Here’s a few more fantastic tributes to the amazing products in the Occasions mini catalog. This catalog and most of the items in it end on April 30.

To card to the right was created using thesuper popular Sweet Pea Stitched felt flowers (117266), Sending Love Notes - Kisses (118779), and the (117335) all from the Occasions mini. This card was sent to me from my up-upline Tami Waddell.

The cards below were created by Lynn Wilcox and my other up-upline Cherie Manderschied. Lynn’s card also uses the Sweet Pea Stitched felt flowers (117266), along with the coordinating Sweet Pea Designer paper (117161) and Well Scripted stamp set (117072-wood or 118601-clear mount). Cherie used the Sending Love notes - Hugs (118778), Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit die (117332) and the Very Vintage jumbo wheel (117693). All of these items are from the Occasions mini catalog.

VIDEO TUTORIAL: Shimmery Pastels Technique

Posted on April 23rd, 2010, no responses.

p2023179 This is a super stinkin’ cool, beautiful technique called Shimmery Pastels. It uses the Beautiful Wings embosslit (118138in the Occasions mini catalog), shimmer paint (see below for ordering info) and Stampin Pastels! Although the photo looks great, it’s even more gorgeous in person where the butterflies completely jump off the card. So very, very cool and yet so easy to do. This short video tutorial demonstrates how to create this beautiful card.

Don’t forget the Occasions mini catalog and my customer appreciation special ends April 30.

Exciting news and a very special Journal

Posted on April 23rd, 2010, no responses.

shelli-journalI’m so very excited to share some news!!! I have been asked to be a reporter for Stampin Success magazine!! WOW!! What an honor, I’ll be covering the upcoming Southern Caribbean cruise. I earned this cruise from Stampin Up, all expenses paidand we are soooo filled with excitement I can hardly stand it. A free cruise! We can’t wait to get on the ship.

    southern-caribbean

I wanted to keep a special journal of thoughts, and as I was pondering what to make I looked over and saw a very special journal already made! Of course, it was perfect for the job!! This journal was made by Shelli Gardner (CEO & Co-Founder of Stampin Up), she gave this to me at a special Leadership Summit (this is a photo of myself and Shelli and a project we created). Most of my notes were confidential at the summit, and I wanted to share the special journal she made so I didn’t write in it. It’s been sitting on display on my desk ever since. It makes me smile every time I look at it. It’s as if it was fate that this special journal has been waiting for this special moment.

The journal was created using a Stampin Up On Board Chipboard Art Journal (107065), and On Board Timeless Type alphabet (112083). The stamp set is Inspired by Nature (111656).

If you’d like more info on how to become a demonstrator and earn free trips, contact me, you can check out my “become a demonstrator” page to learn more about joining my group (Team Stamp It) and they are greatest bunch of gals.

Saying goodbye to the Occasions Mini - Part 1

Posted on April 22nd, 2010, no responses.

lyn-wilcox-1The 2010 Stampin Up Occasions mini catalog has so many fantastic stamp sets, and new products. It boosted the first look at Stampin Up’s new Clear Mount stamp system, which I LOVE LOVE LOVE! It is also ending on April 30, and with it many of the cool stamps and products in it will no longer be available. Don’t worry, the clear mount stamps and new blocks will be staying around (wshew!!!) but these sets may be gone forever.

The gorgeous card to the right uses the Abundant Hope stamp set (117054 wood, 118547 clear mount). the Happy Mother’s Day is from Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370) and is stamped on Organza Ribbon (114319).

lyn-wilcox-6The monkey card is sooooo stinkin’ cute isn’t it? This is the Fox & Friends stamp set (117020 wood, 118565 clear mount). The branches are created using the 2 step bird punch (117191) and the background is Sweet Pea designer paper (117161).

Both cards were created by my friend and downline, Lynn Wilcox.

    On Board Scallop Circle Picture

Posted on April 21st, 2010, no responses.

    lyn-wilcox-4

Today’s project comes from my downline Lynn Wilcox. She used the On Board Scallop Circle Book (118306) in the Occasions Mini catalog to create this beautiful photo collage ornament. She used designer paper and the circle punch for the edges, and the circle scissors to layer the center around the photo.

The On Board books give shape to your creativity! Each set comes with 8 pieces, and at $4.95 that’s a fantastic bargain!! There are 3 different styles in the Occasions mini: Scallop circle (118306 - 6″ diameter), Heart (117236 - 6″) and the Bird Book (117238 - 8 1/4″x3 3/8″).

Hurry, the Occasions mini catalog is ending April 30.

    The Boston Marathon

Posted on April 20th, 2010, no responses.

donna-griffithYesterday we watched the Boston Marathon and hand out waters and pretzels (yes, pretzels) to the runners. It’s always so inspiring to be at this event. This was the 114th year, over 26,000 people ran the marathon, with over 500,000 spectators! The Boston marathon is second largest “single day” sporting event in the world! 2nd only to the Superbowl. Pretty amazing isn’t it?

My friend Donna and her husband Jeff came all the way from Utah to run in it. We got together and did the town on Saturday night, she gave me this gorgeous card. It was created with the Flower Folds Big Shot die (115970), jumbo grommet (114348) and the A to Z stamp (115711 from the Occasions mini catalog).

Here are some pictures of the marathon:

Clear Mount Stamp Storage made easy

    Posted on April 19th, 2010, 2 responses.

dvd-rackI’ve been stocking up on many of the new clear mount stamps from Stampin Up. I just love their easy storage in a DVD container, and am so impressed with how nicely they stamp. Same great rubber, easy storage. Here’s a picture of a DVD rack I picked up at Target, it makes it so much easier to find a stamp set in a hurry as I can see all of the images in the set on the binding of the case. I love that I have 15 stamp sets in this one little space!

If you haven’t seen the clear mount stamps in action, you can check out my introduction to them here >.

Good luck to all who are running the Boston Marathon today.  The kids and I will be cheering on the runners and handing out water. I love being a part of the marathon. We stand at the 1/2 way mark, and it’s a point in the marathon where the runners are tired, slowing up a bit and probably many wanting to quit (13 miles into the 26.2 is a long way)…but they keep going, despite the exhaustion and pain. It’s so inspiring! Especially the wheechairs, they are amazing!

Speaking of inspiring, don’t miss my customer apprecation special, earn free stamps and tutorials packed with stamping ideas to inspire you in the creativity!

    Team Stamp It Shoebox Swapping

Posted on April 17th, 2010, no responses.

    2010-04demomtg4Swapping shoeboxes? Really?
No not really, we’re not swapping the actual shoebox but what’s inside of it hehehe! A “Shoebox swap” is the name of a fun stamping event where a group of us design a project, put all of the supplies in a shoebox and go and make everyone else’s projects. Some of my local demonstrators and I got together Wednesday night and stamped “shoebox swap” style and we had soooo much fun. It was awesome. I promise to share some of the super cool projects the gals designed.

Many of my team live in other states and couldn’t make the event, so we’re also doing a mail in swap. For more information on how to join my group, click here >.

Here are some pictures, and don’t miss the last 2 of my mom’s car! My mom, Sharon MacKinnon (who is also a demonstrator) came showing off the cutest dang decor elements on her car! Stampin’ Up’s Decor Elements line are vinyl rub ons, and they can go just about anywhere (even on a car). Super, super cool!! You can find this line online and in the Definitely Decorative catalog.

awash-with-flowers1 I can’t get enough of this gorgeous Awash with flowers stamp set. Everything just turns out beautifully! My club theme for April was “gorgeous cards in under 5 minutes” and this was one of our cards. The inspiration is from the awe inspiring Jan Tink. The video tutorial shows how easy the 2-step style is to do, and also how to mask to create the look of layered flowers in the garden.

REMINDER: The Awash with flowers stamp set is only available in April 2010, as a special sneak peak. The set won’t be offered again until July 1.
