When I first saw the “Man’s Best Friend” stamp set in the new Stampin’ Up catalog, I thought of our dog Flash (short for Flash Gordon).

Flash is a Beagle mix we rescued last April. I was trying to identify which of the dogs featured in the set resembled Flash the most. I loved all of the images in the set, and will be using them even if they don’t look like Flash, but I decided the cute, tall floppy eared dog would be the best match for Flash. The only issue was Flash his short legs.

I turned him into Flash, by stampin the image in Verasmark, then rubbing Stampin’ Up pastels over the Versamark. This technique is called “Poppin’ Pastels”. This way I was able to give him the right coloring, and the image looks sketched. I did the same for the fire hydrant and clouds.
