Vellum Float & Layer Technique
Hello, crafters!
I’m so excited to share a beautiful set of handmade cards I’ve created using the brand new Stampin’ Up! Floral Delight Suite Collection. These cards are perfect for any occasion and incorporate a fun technique that’s easy to recreate, even for beginners. Whether you’re a seasoned card maker or just getting started, I hope you find inspiration in this project.
Two Cards, One Technique
Both of these cards feature the same fun technique, but they each have their own unique look. The secret to this design is using patterned Vellum on the front of the card. This creates a soft, see-through effect, giving your cards a beautiful floating design.
Typically, this technique is done with a Window Sheet, but the vellum adds a bit more opacity, which gives the design a lovely, subtle touch. The vellum I’ve used here is from the Floral Vellum Pack, and I absolutely love the striking gingham and floral patterns it offers. Plus it coordinates perfectly with the designer paper.
Card #1: Daffodil Delight
Let’s talk about the Daffodil Delight card first. This card is in portrait orientation, and it features a charming sentiment from the Delightful Wishes Bundle: “Wishing you all the best.” I’ve layered the words in white and daffodil with a Balmy Blue shadow layer to make them pop. The Daffodil Delight and Balmy Blue combination is such a fresh, cheerful color combo—perfect for any occasion!
To add dimension to this card, I die-cut a flower and leaves from the Delightful Wishes Dies, and the background is embossed with the stunning Starstruck Embossing Folder. If you love this folder, you’ll be thrilled to know it’s available for free during Saleabration, which starts on January 7th.
Card #2: Balmy Blue Gingham
Next up is the Balmy Blue Gingham card, which is in landscape orientation. For this card, I used the word “Love” from the Love of Spring Dies, which are part of the Paper Pumpkin Dies collection (and on sale for just $6!).
I love how the die-cut word brings a touch of elegance and sentimentality to the design. The flowers on this card are cut from the beautiful Floral Delight Designer Series Paper, which really adds a pop of color and pattern to the card.
