Hit the Road Jack

Posted on February 27th, 2009, no responses.

Hit the Road stamp setJack is my nickname for the “crazy cat” driving the jeep in this stamp set called “Hit the Road”. You can’t help but smile when you see him.

I thought the thumping technique worked so perfectly with this image, putting it in motion on a “bumpy” road. I stamped the main image on the naturals ivory panel, then masked it (mask=scrap peice of paper cut out in the shape of the image) and repeatedly stamped over it to create motion. Reversing the Tulipe Die Cut

Posted on February 24th, 2009, no responses.

tulipe-die-tami2I have been playing with the Stampin’ Up Tulipe Bigz sizzix die in my Big Shot. I love the idea of using the image punched out. The designer paper accents the image beautifully.

Here I used Bella Rose and So Saffron designer papers and 1/2 pearls from the SU Pretties kit. This is a 6×6 image, although I originally created it as a card I think it would look gorgeous in a frame as art.

Stampin Up supports Australian bushfire victims

Posted on February 20th, 2009, no responses.

Australian Red Cross - The Power Of HumanityOne more reason why I love Stampin’ Up is their compassion and outreach. The company uses it’s resources to help those in need. Here is a note from the company:

With the fires that have recently ravaged southern Australia, this nation has suffered its largest natural disaster in history. Stampin’ Up felt a compelling need to help and offer support to the survivors.

To respond to this tragedy, SU quickly organized a relief effort in Australia and New Zealand designed to donate 50% of the sales of a select group of stamps to the Australian Red Cross. Although the official Stampin’ Up! relief effort is available only to those living in Australia and New Zealand, we here in the US can help by contributing directly to the
Australian Red Cross.”

I have made a personal donation to Australian Red Cross to help support these victims. My heart goes out to those effected by these fires.

Wedding Card using Only Ovals

Posted on February 19th, 2009, no responses.

Stampin Up Only Ovals Stamp Set I was playing with my Only Ovals stamp set and made this gorgeous wedding card. I love that all of the stamps in that set fit in the SU Wide Oval punch, it made it really easy. I embossed this “You’ve tied the Knot” image in silver on basic black card stock and punched it out.

I embossed the Bella Toile stamp set on white naturals. Used the ticket corner punch to punch the corners, then silver brads for accents. Read the rest of this entry…

Mans Best Friend - Flash Gordon

Posted on February 16th, 2009, no responses.

Man's Best Friend Stamp Set

When I first saw the “Man’s Best Friend” stamp set in the new Stampin’ Up catalog, I thought of our dog Flash (short for Flash Gordon).

Flash is a Beagle mix we rescued last April. I was trying to identify which of the dogs featured in the set resembled Flash the most. I loved all of the images in the set, and will be using them even if they don’t look like Flash, but I decided the cute, tall floppy eared dog would be the best match for Flash. The only issue was Flash his short legs.

I turned him into Flash, by staFlash Gordanmpin the image in Verasmark, then rubbing Stampin’ Up pastels over the Versamark. This technique is called “Poppin’ Pastels”. Read the rest of this entry…

Be my Valentine

Posted on February 14th, 2009, no responses.

Candy Lane ValentinesOn Wednesday night (Feb 11) it hits me that Valentine’s Day is almost here, and I’ve completely forgotten! My boys both needed Valentine’s for the classes, which equals over 50 combined.

It certainly would’ve been a moment of panic, if it hadn’t been for my dear friend The Big Shot! I remembered seeing the most darling candy treat pouch made from the Pillow Box die and life was good…Big Shot to the rescue! I used Candy Lane designer paper and the new SU Heart to Heart punch and punched out the little hearts on the front. Then put candy hearts in tiny cello bags inside.

Heart to Heart Valetnines

I stamped a little heart “with love” stamp on the back from the Love You Much Stamp Set, then my kids signed them before I put them together.

The top picture shows all of the different paper patterns from the Candy Lane dp together, they were so pretty. The 2nd picture is a close up. Sweet and simple!

A Yummy Embosslit Tutorial

Posted on February 12th, 2009, no responses.

yummyAnother “must have” item from the new catalog are the embosslits for the Big Shot. These are the coolest dies, they not only emboss they actually cut the shape of the die. This card show the Stampin’ Up exclusive Simple Flower embosslit. I have cut 4 flowers with the same die, 3 baja breeze and 1 chocolate chip. They are layered on a Top Notes die background shape. The “A little something for you” sentiment and swirl image come from the SAB (Sale a Bration) stamp set called Yummy.

Card stock is baja breeze, and chocolate chip. Filigree designer brad for the center flower. Center flower is popped up on a dimensional.

Gratuitous Graffiti - part 2 - Hologram Technique

Gratuitous Graffiti Hologram Technique

This is the 2nd in my two part series on the Gratuitous Graffiti background stamp. This technique I stumbled across by accident when I was expiramenting. It came out sooo very cool. I’ve dubbed it the “hologram” technqiue because that’s what it reminds me of in person. It’s a little hard to see in the photos. This card even got a “WOW” out of my 10 year old son.

I created this with an acetate/transparency sheet, white and black staz on ink pads and silver acrylic paint. The background of the card base uses the Sanded stamp, and then rubbed the ink pad directly on the edges of the card stock. I used the paper piercer, mat and template to punch the holes across the botom. Slit punch and vintage brads for accents.  Here is a photo tutorial of how to create this technique. Gratuitous Graffiti - part 1

Posted on February 9th, 2009, no responses.

Gratuitous graffitiI totally fell in love with the Gratuitous Graffiti background stamp when it made it’s debut in the 2008 Fall / Winter Catalog. Of course, I was thinking about the holidays, and it went untouched until after Christmas when I was ready to make my swaps for SU Leadership this past January. I was thrilled to break this stamp out of the plastic case and put it to work.

This is my first of 2 posts showcasing this background stamp. This card uses black and white craft ink pads for the “shadow” effect. I did the black craft ink pad “direct to paper” by rubbing the ink pad directly on the edges of the inner panel and frayed the edges of the hemp for the “goth” effect.

Where to find the catalog supply lists

Stampin Up Catalog Sample Supply ListHave you received your 2009 Spring / Summer Idea Book and Catalog and wondered where the supply list/recipe section the used to located in the back went?

I’ve got great news! Not only is the Supply List still alive and well, it’s better then it ever was. It’s just moved to a new location, it’s now located on the web: www.stampwithtami.com/catalog.html  under Resources.

You’ll also find the Dormant List there, with pictures of the stamp sets that are still available, just not pictured in the new catalog.

Beautiful Butterflies

Curvy Verses
I absolutely love this new Big Shot die from the new Spring / Summer catalog. It’s called Beautiful Butterflies. The original idea for this card came from my friend Meg Loven, I loved her creation so much I added my own touch and we are making this at my February stamp club. I really like the way the butterly “pops” off the card, and raspberry tart designer paper is soooo yummy!

I was confused by the die at first glance, because 2 of the butterflys appeared to only be 1/2 butterlies (or in flight) then I realized that if you fold your paper in 1/2 over those, you get the full butterfly (shown in kiwi kiss). The photo tutorial below shows how to cut this card using the Big Shot. Read the rest of this entry…
