VIDEO: Painters Tape Technique

love and sympathy-painter tape-stampin upLoving this cool and super easy technique using painters tape, of all things! Normally you would use this stuff to mask off areas of your walls/house that you didn't want paint on, however today we'll be using it to apply paint (or ink in our case). Today's sympathy card sample from the Love and Sympathy stamp set was made by Kathie Rotti.

Below is another example from Diane Giarrusso featuring the Spread the Joy stamp set. I'll post the supplies for both cards below.

Tip: I found this technique works best with the new style "foam" ink pads from Stampin' Up, you can still do it with the older "felt" pads, just a slightly different result.

PROJECT: Liz’s ‘Treat or Treat’ Pizza Box

1962Today's super cute Halloween Treat Box is a "pizza box" from Liz Miller of Stampin' with Liz! You'll want to use your Simply Scored tool for this fun box (dimensions below)...

I have not made a pizza box in a while and forgot how much fun they are! I have provided you with the step by step directions to make your own. Enjoy!

~ Liz

1963

1964

DIRECTIONS:

1. Cardstock measures 5-1/2″ x 8″. This way you get two boxes per sheet of cardstock.

2. Score on the long side at 1″, 3-1/2″, 4-1/2″, and 7″. Then score the short side at 1″.

3. Cut on the long side up to the 1″ score mark on either side to give you little tabs.

4. Fold into box and adhere side flaps as you go.

PROJECT: Skull Popsicle Stick Bracelet

1949Today's super cool project is from Liz Miller, at Stampin with Liz! It's a Popsicle stick bracelet made with Washi Tape.

Liz writes:

I saw this cool bracelet on display by a fellow demonstrator from the U.K. this past summer at convention. I am sorry I didn’t catch her name to give her proper credit. This is the easiest project to make but it sure take a lot of patience (no joke)!

Here is my daughter modeling the wicked cool bracelet! I think I will be making more of these for her. LOL!!!

Instructions:

1. Boil the Popsicle sticks for 30 minutes. Then remove from heat and set aside and let cool in the water for another 30 minutes.

2. Once cooled enough, start working with the Popsicle sticks and gently bend. Did I mention that you need to be patient? Once you get it bent, fit them inside of a drinking glass. You want the diameter smaller, since the bracelet will stretch a little bit once on your wrist.

3. Allow to dry for a day or two! Again, patience is the key!

4. Once dry, wrap washi tape or designer series paper around the bent Popsicle stick and add a thin coat of Mod Podge to seal.

5. Final step is to add some rhinestones!

VIDEO: Pumpkin Card

pumpkin tag-stmapin up-stampwithtamiToday's video pumpkin project is a spin off of a pumpkin tag I posted on my Facebook page earlier this week. The original was on display at convention, so all I had was a picture and no details. I wanted to recreate it, but I also wanted to make it a little bigger and turn it into a card. So I used the Circle Framelits and a cool technique on the Big Shot so it opens and you can write inside. The question is, is it a card, or is it a tag? You decide!

A Decade with Stampin Up! WOW

stampin up 10 years

Have you ever had an event happen in your life that seemed small, but it transformed your life?
10 years ago today, I joined the Stampin Up family. I could never have dreamed where this would path would lead. I only did it for the discount lol! Over the past decade, this shy girl has became a public speaker and SU has brought me on the most amazing adventures around the world (Fiji, Alaska, Hawaii, Panama Canal....just a few).

More highlights over the years were hosting my own TV Series, The Stamp With Tami Show, and of course learning to make a video and post it on YouTube!

The friendships I've made through stamping, I cherish dearly. You have brought us through some of the hardest hard times of my life, and celebrated a few of the biggest.

As a single mother, income my job brings supports my kids & I. It has saved my family home of 30+ years. Today marks 1 year that I've owned it myself.

You never know what tomorrow will bring, or when something seemingly small will change your life forever. 2 weeks ago, I hit a milestone selling $1Million in personal sales in my SU career. Shelli Gardner, CEO & Co-Founder of Stampin Up, called me personally, sent amazing flowers and a card. The next day, Shelli was in a terrible accident. Her life was also changed forever, and now she is an inspiration in new ways as she shares her struggles to walk again. (You can read Shelli's incredible story, and post her a personal note on her blog here >).

PICTURES:
The pictures above are of my very first convention in Orlando, FL (2004) and meeting Shelli for the very first time. The next was Shelli and I on stage 7 years later - #1 Demonstrator of the Year.

While I'm doing a "then and now", I have to share the best part of all. My boys! Because of Stampin Up, I'm able to work from home, and be here for them. They are the biggest part of why I do what I do, and I love them so much! Here they are a few weeks after I joined SU in their Halloween Costumes. Look at how little they were!! The next picture was taken a few weeks ago at Scout Camp, my oldest is applying for his Eagle Scout this week! I'm so proud:)

FRAME: Best of Autumn

best-of-autumnToday's beautiful project comes from Stampin' Up Concept Artist, Robyn:

It is now time to transition into fall, and this month’s Best of stamp set, “Best of Autumn,” is the perfect set to help you with your crafting needs—such as making a card or a tag for a gift.

I used the leaf and greeting images to create my project. Gold is very popular right now and I wanted to incorporate it—so I gold-embossed a few leaves and colored the cut-up doily pieces using a Sponge Dauber and the Gold Metallic Encore Pad. Last, I rubbed the gold ink pad around the edges of my frame to give it a more rustic feel.

This framed piece would be perfect to use on your mantel or entry table—or even to give as a gift. It will be sure to get everyone excited about the fall season!

VIDEO: So Sorry Sympathy Card

so sorry-stampin upThis is such a beautiful sympathy card. Linda Cullen brought this for our last demonstrator group meeting, it was a hit. The soft coloring, and beautiful script of the "So Sorry" stamp are eye-catching. In the video, I'll demonstrator how to use the Stampn' Around wheel with an ink pad, and how to create this gorgeous coloring effect. You have to love the Backyard Basics bundle (Stamps & Framelits) that were created to go together, makes it all come together so easily.
