My Digital Studio Scrapbooking

Posted on August 4th, 2010, no responses.

tami-waddell1Here are some super cool My Digital Studio (MDS) scrapbook page layouts from another Tami W., my up-up-line Tami Waddell. She is really great with digital layouts, and she gave me her permission to share a couple she did of her family.

This first page she used the stamp set World Tour Brush Set (#119103 - $3.95) & Rough Type Alphabet stamp brush (#121066 - $9.95).

World Tour Stamp Brush Set - Digital Download - by Stampin' Up!Rough Type stamp brush set digital download

tami-waddell3This second page Tami used stamp brushes, paper and accessories that are included in the original software.

She had these professionally printed directly through the MDS program, then she “hybrid” by added some coordinating embellishments.

    Boston MDS Digital Book

Posted on June 9th, 2010, no responses.

My friend BJ made this book after her trip to Boston last month. BJ was one of our guest presenters at our annual Demonstrator Extravaganza. She created this book and a video (complete with music) using Stampin’ Up! My Digital Studio software and the “My Sweet Pea Digital Kit” Download (119978).

VIDEO TUTORIAL: Born to Be Wild Motorcycle

Posted on May 7th, 2010, no responses.

motorcycleBorn to be wiiiiild!!! Wahooo!! I’m so excited to have a motorcycle stamp (in the new Summer Mini catalog), both my husband and I are bikers. He is the hottie on the Harley, my bike is what I like to call the “Honda Davidson” (below). My friend Lisa Freeman, and her friend Lorrie, created this gorgeous motorcycle card in blue (below). I did it in red to match my bike. The video tutorial (below) has all of the fun details.

A cool note about this card, the black striped designer paper is actually from the My Digital Studio program. I didn’t find any black designer paper I liked that fit the card perfectly. I love being able to make my own designer paper with MDS! My son walked by and saw the card and loved it so much he’s now making his own:)

    Cruise Portrait fun with MDS

Posted on May 6th, 2010, one response.

I’m so excited! I can’t wait to make a photo book in MDS (My Digital Studio) out of my Stampin Up Southern Caribbean cruise photos from last week. I hope to work on that this weekend. In the meantime, I made a photo collage in Picasa and imported that into the My Digital Studio program to create this portrait of our memories from the trip. This will be printed as an 8×10 photo and I’ll frame it.

I have a complete photo gallery of the entire trip here. Seeing these photos reminds me of all of the fun we had, and memories we’ll cherish for a lifetime! Thank you Stampin’ Up!!!

Cyber Wedding Expo: Digital Wedding Cards - Part 12

Posted on April 13th, 2010, one response.

ciaf-mds-mar10-mdjjI still have lots more samples coming in my Cyber Wedding Expo series, today’s focus is on digital wedding cards. Adjust the greetings to the bride and groom’s names for invitations, or use as shown for congratulatory cards.

These were created using My Digital Studio software. The beauty of using MDS for wedding invitations, or any cards is being able to plan your colors/design on the computer before printing. Use Stampin Up’s professional printing service for high quality professional printing, or create “hybrid” cards by printing on your own computer at home and adding ribbon and embellishments. Card created by my friends at CIAF. Thanks Debbie!

    Posted on March 8th, 2010, 7 responses.

    mds-project-boxes-all

Today’s lesson is how to create these gorgeous boxes using the new Mini Project box downloads from Stampin Up. You don’t even need the My Digital Studio program to make these stinkin’ cool boxes, just the download from my store. Simply print off my instruction sheet, download the templates and you’re on your way!mds-box4-sweet-pea2

The instruction sheet gives step by step instructions on how to use and print your template on the computer (both My Digital Studio and MS Word instructions). Then the video demonstrates how easy it is to put your box together, once you’ve printed. We’ll also be using the Fabulous Beautiful Butterflies Embosslit in the Big Shot to make the amazing, shimmery butterflies.

Photo cards: Is it Live or is it MDS?

Posted on February 5th, 2010, one response.

anitas-christmas-photo-cardHow’d she do that? This card looks like it has several layers of photos, designer paper and stamps…but in reality it’s 1 flat layer, created in the My Digital Studio software program and printed as a glossy photo. The photo was then layered on chocolate chip card stock! It’s amazing. Even in person it looks layered, and the brads and buttons look so real you want to touch them hehehehe.

This was created by my friend and downline Anita. She’s sooooo talented, not to mention her beautiful family. She even created the inside panel in MDS (My Digital Studio), layering the digital curly label punch on designer paper and adding the text, then printed it and attached to the inside of the card.

Hybrid Stamping: The art of mixing card stock and embellishments with digital stamping is called  “hybrid”. It’s another way to use MDS, in addition to the professional printing services that come with it, you can also print yourself at home and create these cool projects.

VIDEO: Calendar using Templates plus Printing

    Posted on December 26th, 2009, 2 responses.

200912-calendarI made calendars for our family, and all of the grandparents in Stampin’ Up’s My Digital Studio software. The video below shows some of the customizing I did, and how cool the professional printing is. Click the SHARE PROJECT tab in the program for both professional printing and home printing options right from the MDS program.

CALENDAR DETAILS: I used the digital Hoppy Days scrapbook kit template & 2010 Calendar template for the basic layouts (I’ll post the steps to do this below), these templates come with the MDS software program. I customized some of the layouts by changing photo layouts and adding backgrounds to the calendar. I added a Birthday Candle stamp, and name for each family member’s birthday (this might be hard to see in images). I changed the background paper of the calendar date sections to match each page above it (for example when the background page was real red, the date section below is real red).

    Finished size is 8 1/2″ x 11″ landscape. MDS Calendars also come in 8 1/2″ x 11″ portrait X 12″x12″.

    INSTRUCTIONS:

Steps to use a scrapbook template with your calendar template:

    • Open MDS (My Digital Studio) software
    • Choose “Multiple Output Options” (not Calendar)
    • Choose Calendar Size (your choice 12″x12″, 11″x8 1/2″ Landscape or portrait)
    • Choose “Designer” Template
    • Pick which scrapbook layout template you’d like to use and then choose “Next” {program will create project}
    • Click “Insert” > “Add Other Templates” {Template list will open}
    • Click on the Calendar Template of your choice, then click “Next
    • {Under Page Arrangement Section} REMOVE the photo pages, so all you have showing is the 12 monthly calendars
    • Click “Next” and import monthly calendars (they will import at the end of the project)
    • Drag the thumbnail images of each page at the bottom of MDS, monthly calendar date page will be after the page you want above it. You may need to copy (or insert) a few more scrapbook pages to fill the calendar.
    • Don’t forget to leave a cover page.

    My Digital Studio Christmas Cards

    Posted on December 22nd, 2009, 5 responses.

mds-ciaf1Here are some super cute Christmas card ideas using My Digital Studio software from Stampin’ Up.

CARD DETAILS: The first card uses: the Holly Jolly Christmas Digital Stamp set, modern label punch, old olive ribbon and knots as well as card stock & designer paper layers (these are all included with original MDS program). The 2nd and 3rd cards use the Christmas Jingle Digital Scrapbook kit and designer paper (also included with original MDS software).

MDS TIP: Did you know that you can create a cool project in MDS as your sample, then create the real thing from your sample? This way you’ll know exactly what it will look like before you start cutting any card stock.

Here’s another tip: If you  didn’t get your cards out yet, or maybe you are running really, really late, you can use MDS to create your card digitally and send via email. You can even add a photo to these and make photo cards. Swap out Santa for a heart and it can be a Valentine!

My Digital Studio - Family Christmas card

Posted on December 16th, 2009, one response.

My Digital Studio Christmas CardI created our family Christmas card using Stampin’ Up’s My Digital Studio Software this year! I loved being able to add a bunch of photos and captions to the inside of the card. Confession, I really, really wanted to type a family Christmas letter in there but I just couldn’t get it written…so my apologies to the family, we’ll just have to tell you about our year in person hehehe.

I began the front of the card with an MDS template, and then added a picture and changed the designer paper. Then I created a custom design for the inside, and used a photo template for the round pics inside.

The printed size will by 5×7. I just had them professionally printed through the My Digtial Studio program (online) and had the shipping expedited so they will be here this week!! Yeah. They’ll even come with envelopes!!

Here’s the inside of the card:

VIDEO TUTORIAL: My Digital Studio Basics

    Posted on November 15th, 2009, 2 responses.

2009-11-15-mdsJoin me today for My Digital Studio 101 Basics - the video tutorial. Whether you just purchased the BRAND NEW Stampin’ Up My Digital Studio software, or want to but have been waiting to see how it works…this video will help you get started. The video is much easier to see then my first MDS tutorial, and you’ll find this more helpful.

In this video, I’ll be creating this digital scrapbook page. You’ll learn how to import photos, stamp, punches, text and paper to your MDS (My Digtal Studio) project. AS well as changing colors and adding drop shadows.

I’ll be demonstrating how the program is so easy to use, you don’t need to know your left from right to make beautiful creations in it! It’s entertainment, as well as education.

I love the picture, it’s from a recent Stampin’ Up Founder’s Circle trip of my buds Patty Bennett, Dawn Griffith, Tiffany Bauer, Ann Clemmer and myself. We had so much fun (thanx for the pic Dawn!!).

VIDEO TUTORIAL: My Digital Studio 101 - Part 1

Posted on November 12th, 2009, one response.

tutorial-001I’ve done it! My very first (of many) My Digital Studio software video tutorials! Part 1 is an introduction to MDS (My Digital Studio) and creating a photo album using a pre-designed template and the picture auto-fill feature. All of the products shown in this video came with the original MDS program, with the exception of the Medallion stamp that is an “add on” download (you can download this in my store). You’ll also see how to add embellishments, text and create dimension using shadows.

I apologize for it ending abruptly, I had some technical difficulties. Stay tuned for more MDS tutorials and learn how to add photos and create pages manually, and learn basic and advanced digital media techniques.
